walks & roses #2

We have been going for a walk every morning and have rediscovered some different urban parks nearby which are really walkable and have lots of interesting details to catch our eye: blooming roses, large-leaved lime trees, rosemary bushes and even a white stork looking for stuff to make its nest more comfortable. I've realized that birds are becoming less shy, probably due to the lack of noise and traffic these days.

- raincoat, Lighthouse (last year) / impermeable
- sneakers, Chiruca outlet (link because I like them) / zapatillas, de Chiruca, ¡producto local!
- necklace, a present by Veronica / collar, un regalo

I'm still switching between seasons in my wardrobe, ana still dealing with my spring cleaning. I've done my scarves and berets laundry before storing them. Even if most of them are made of wool, I put them in the washing machine into some bags and deselect the spin cycle (this is Important!). Obviously, it takes ages to dry them, so I always wait for longer and warmer days to do stuff like this.

I've been bitten by the patchwork bug, so I've started another project (see my first one here). I've dismantled a failed project of a gingham dress which made me feel so frustrated that I almost throw it to the bin. Glad that didn't do it!. Now I've used it to sew a top and I'm picking any blue-ish piece of leftover fabric to make the skirt. Probably this is going to be another 'fat lady dress', massive and flowy, but who cares!

- trousers, old and shortened (see them before) / pantalón, antigüito y recortado (véase cómo era antes)
- sneakers, Nike outlet (old) / zapatillas
- bag, Nonapapallona local designer (old) / bolso, de Nonapapallona, diseño local

Hope you're safe and as fabulous as possible!

  1. Love both your outfits! You know I'm all over an African print.
Those hats look so lovely drying like that, they're like an art installation. I cannot wait to see your next patchwork project, how exciting! I bet it's going to look amazing, such a riot of colour & print.
I'm glad you've found somewhere safe and interesting to walk, that flowerbed is very colourful (but not as colourful as you!) xxx

  2. Look at all those hats drying, they're a joy to behold. Maybe I should do the same with my berets? Still switching between seasons too, which is a good thing as it suddenly became a lot colder again. Can't wait to see your new patchwork project, which I'm sure is going to be fabulous. Loving both your outfits, and how wonderful that you've found local parks to go for safe and interesting walks. We can go a bit further afield now, but haven't been going for a walk for ages. Need to remedy that when the weather improves again! Besos xxx

    1. I'm glad that I didn't switch between seasons, because we've having some chilly days and I've been wearing long sleeved clothes again!. Sometimes it's good to be a little bit lazy!
It has been really lovely to go for a walk even if I still miss my favorite paths and parks, but they're too crowded (by children) nowadays.

  3. Gosh you are looking lovely! Loved the green and blue together and the purple, blue and turquoise outfit was very stylish and oh so colourful!

The roses are magnificent and I'm glad you've found somewhere nice to walk. It's so interesting how so many more people are noticing and appreciating our birdlife. Long may it continue!

That's a fab selection of berets and I'm intrigued you don't spin them. Does it spoil the shape I wonder?

    Take care

    1. glad you like these outfits!, thank you for your comment!
I agree that we have some birdlife around us and usually it's unnoticed, so it's good news that more people are realizing how many beautiful birds can be watched.
And I never spin wool clothes, particularly knit wool, because, as you said, it spoils the shape. It's also very important to let dry any wool cloth on a flat surface until most of the water have gone. Not a good idea to hang a wet knit on the clothesline, it weights a ton and can loose shape!

  4. Oh, look at those beautiful roses! They must smell heavenly! Monica, you look fabulous in your blues and purples, in both of these outfits. I'm so happy for you that you're able to get outside and stretch your legs. I've noticed a huge amount of bird and animal life in my area (and I'm only a few blocks from downtown!), including a giant bald eagle.

    1. Oh yes, they smell delightfully!.
Thank you for your comment, dear Sheila, I'm also happy to be outside and feel the fresh breeze!
And it looks like animal life enjoys our lockdown and is going for a walk without those pesky humans!

  5. Love your blue green outfit!! , and isnt it wonderful to be able to be able to walk about slightly more freely once again, but that's as far as Im prepared to go,at the moment!!
Ive been into to patchwork for years now so I'm interested to see what else you do, Ive never made clothes and I like the way you put raglán sleeves on your dress, so much easier than trying to fit in sleeves! i wonder, did you use a pattern for the top?
Ive only done quilts ,cushions, bags...... And I like your couscous template!!

    1. Thank you for your comment!
I'm not a skilled seamstress so I sew my tops and tunics using the same pattern, a very simple one. The sleeves are my favourite part, as they're attached to the neckline so I have not to fit them into an armhole. I recommend you to try this kind of peasant blouse design, it's easy!
I admire that you've done quilts, they are so lovely.
Glad you like the couscous template, ;DDD
