Winter, finally

February is running to its end too fast, it doesn't cease to amaze me how quickly a week goes by!. Leaving commonplaces to one side, I've stayed at home most of last week, recovering from a cold. Glad that I had some crochet projects on hand to keep me entartained (even if I was too mentally foggy to crochet sometimes). Finally I'm feeling better right now and hopefully I'm getting over the dreaded lurgy. Obviously, I haven't felt like dressing up out of my comfort zone (literally), so it has been a week focused on warm clothes and massive scarves. I was dreaming on wearing some gauze dresses and floaty layers, but they will have to wait for a (short) while.

Febrero está llegando a su fin rapidísimamente, no deja de asombrarme cómo vuelan las semanas. Dejando a un lado los tópicos sobre el transcurso del tiempo, he tenido que quedarme en casa unas cuantas tardes de la semana pasada, porque tenía un resfriado, gripe o lo que fuese. Menos mal que tenía proyectos de ganchillo para entretenerme, aunque algunos ratos tenía la cabeza muy espesa hasta para eso. Finalmente, estoy mejor y recuperándome de mis males. Claro está que no me ha apetecido mucho salirme de mi zona de confort (literalmente) estos días, más bien ha sido una semana centrada en la comodidad, ropa abrigadita y chales calentitos. Estaba deseando ponerme vestidos de algodón vaporosos, pero tendremos que esperar un ratito ;D

That's what I wore the day before I started to feel like crap. Totally a normal day, I went to work, back home for lunch and then went for a walk in the evening. I know that spanish timetable can be shocking, because we have lunch at two or three (and our 'lunch' is the main meal, not dinner). Obviously, this can vary widely depending on your work, more 'european' timetables have been adopted, but old habits die hard.
That's a really old dress that I took to a local artist to be jazzed up (Ramonak Workshop), necklace was a present by Veronica, puffer jacket was acquired retail, Adidas sneakers (old), wool scarf from an artisan market and usual cork bag by Fine Cork Portugal.

Esto fue el día antes de que me empezase a sentir fatal. Un día totalmente normal, fui a trabajar, de vuelta a casa a comer y luego salí a caminar un rato por la tarde.
Este vestido lo tenía hace años y lo llevé al taller de Ramonak Workshop para darle otro aire, el collar fue un regalo de Veronica, chaqueta acolchada de una tienda local, zapatillas de Adidas outlet (antigüitas), bufanda de lana de artesanía y el habitual bolso de corcho de Fine Cork Portugal.

Not feeling my best here, so I kept it comfy and wore sensible clothes for a rainy day. That Seasalt coat, some waterproof boots (Northface outlet), my new PuntRoma trousers and a colourful wool cardi. I'm particularly proud of the pockets, as opened them laterally and lined them too: totally functional!.

Aquí no estaba en mi mejor momento, así que decidí llevar ropa cómoda y práctica para un día de lluvia. El abrigo impermeable es de Seasalt, botas también impermeables de Northface (outlet), pantalón nuevo de PuntRoma y una chaqueta de lana muy colorida. Estoy especialmente orgullosa de los bolsillos, ya que los hice abiertos por un lado y además forrados: totalmente operativos!

More comfy clothes for a quite cold day, so I wore a massive scarf and a warm coat. Polka dot coat was acquired retail (year ago!), dress was a hand-me-down by Mom (label Udalaitz), tights by Snag, DrMartens boots (old), pendant made by a local artisan.

Más ropa cómoda para un día frío, así que me puse una buena bufanda y un abrigo. El abrigo de lunares es de una tienda local, hace años, el vestido fue una donación de Mamá (marca Udalaitz), medias Snag, botas DrMartens (viejitas), colgante de una artesana local.

First day I felt like a human being and ready to run errands and have a beverage and it rained cats and dogs. We took shelter in a favourite pub and watched the rain from our stools. Not the best weather to recover from a cold!.
El primer día que estaba un poco recuperada de mi resfriado y salí a hacer unos recados y tomar algo, y se puso a llover a cántaros. Nos refugiamos en uno de nuestros bares favoritos y nos sentamos a ver llover (con una cerveza, siempre mejor).

Usually we run some errands on Saturday morning, which is a great excuse for an urban walk and some social life (and also a chance to take a photo in a touristic background as this centric park). I wore that really old plaid dress, tights by Snag, shoes by Camper, an orange cardi by CandA and usual cork bag by Fine Cork Portugal.

Normalmente los sábados por la mañana son nuestro momento de hacer recados, que es además una excusa para dar un paseo por la ciudad y hacer vida social (también es una oportunidad para fotos con fondo turística, como esta céntrica plaza. Me puse este vestido de cuadros escoceses antiquísimo, medias Snag, zapatos Camper, una chaquetita de punto naranja del CandA y el habitual bolso de corcho de Fine CorkPortugal.

This week has started with (much desired) rains and some snow on the nearby mountains. Not bad news, actually, even if most people (included me) don't love rainy, windy, stormy days. I tried my best to cheer up the Monday with some colourful comfy clothes: polka dot coat was acquired retail (years ago), jacket by October (ages old), skirt was a second hand find at Sunday street market, striped pullover came from CandA (new!). That wool scarf was shopped at an artisan fair and it's so versatile!.

Esta semana ha empezado con unas lluvias muy deseadas y también nieve en las montañas cercanas. No son malas noticias en realidad, aunque a la mayoría (incluida yo misma) no les apasionen los días de lluvia, viento y borrasca. Intenté ponerle buena cara al lunes con algo de color (y comodidad): abrigo de lunares de una tienda local (hace años), chaqueta October (hace siglos), falda de segunda mano del mercadillo del domingo, jersey de rayas del CandA. Este chal de lana que compré en un mercadillo artesano está resultando muy versátil.

Repeat, please

The weather remains the same (unseasonably warm) so we're skipping the winter cold week after week. Hopefully some rain and even snow are forecasted for the coming days. If you read this from a rainy country, please know that drought is a constant menace in Spain these days (you can blame on global warming again!). Don't let me start on the pools, golf courses, avocado crops and all the stupid stuff. Many people prefer to ignore this theme.

El tiempo sigue igual, muy cálido para esta época del año, así que seguimos evitando el invierno semana tras semana. Parece que, por suerte, hay lluvia e incluso nieve en camino para los próximos días. Si me leéis desde un lugar más lluvioso, por aquí la sequía es una amenaza constante, (tampoco ayudan las piscinas, campos de golf, plantaciones de aguacate y demás), no es nada nuevo que el calentamiento global nos está afectando. Es un asunto que se está volviendo imposible de ignorar.

Not only the weather remains the same, there are also some repeat offenders this week!. I have a weakness for 80's prints, so I've worn again that vintage skirt!. I've noticed that it's not everybody's cup of tea, as occasionaly it has received a look of disdain. Not from any friend of mine!. Obviously, you can't please everyone, particularly those people that tell you 'I'd like to be as brave as you and wear those colourful clothes' (totally fake). But I appreciate every compliment (even backhanded ones! ;DDD).

No sólo el tiempo sigue igual, you también soy reincidente esta semana y mucho. Tengo una debilidad por los estampados ochenteros, así que repito falda. Me he dado cuenta de que no todo el mundo comparte ni celebra mi gusto por lo ochentero, ya que alguna gente me ha mirado raro esta falda. Ninguna de mis amigas!. Claro está que no puedes gustar a todo el mundo, menos aún a esa gente que te dice cosas como 'me gustaría ser valiente como tú y ponerme esa ropa de colores' (qué va!). Pero yo aprecio cualquier cumplido, incluso los que no lo son de verdad ;DD

Another repeat offender in a windy day. That dress was acquired second hand and then dyed in red but resulted in a pinky shade. I've worn it with same cardi (LaRedoute, old) and same accessories again, as it's not particularly versatile (still not sure if it's a keeper). Both brooch and necklace were made by a local artisan. Wool coat was shopped retail. It was another warm day but chilly in the morning, very spring-like weather.

Otro reincidente en un día de mucho viento. Este vestido lo compré de segunda mano y luego lo teñí con tinte rojo, y acabó en este tono rosado. Me lo he puesto de nuevo con la misma chaqueta (LaRedoute) y los mismos accesorios, ya que no me resulta demasiado versátil (no sé si me conviene quedármelo). El broche y el collar son obra de una artista local. El abrigo de lana es de una tienda local. Fue otro día templado pero hacía frío por la mañana, muy primaveral.

Windy again!. I wore another 80's vintage skirt, matchy colours and some short-over-long silhouette. Sorry that my blouse is so wrinkled after a morning at the computer!. That brooch was charity shopped and the necklace was a present by Vronni. I was trying to show you my last crochet project: finally, I dismantled a crochet wrap which was acquired second hand (2 €) and used half of the cotton yarn to create that shawl. The remaining half will be used in another project!. Not so usual that I find any cotton made knit/crochet in such good condition, that was a stroke of luck!

Otro día de mucho viento!. Y otra falda ochentera con colores a juego y varias capas corto-sobre-largo. Lástima que la blusa estuviera tan arrugada después de una mañana sentada en el ordenador. El broche vino de Cáritas y el collar fue un regalo de Vronni. Intantaba mostrar este último proyecto de ganchillo: al final deshice la chaquetita que encontré en un puesto de segunda mano (por 2€) y usé la mitad del algodón para hacer este chal. La otra mitad queda a la espera de otro proyecto!. No es tan habitual encontrar prendas de punto de algodón y en tan perfectas condiciones, así que fue un golpe de suerte!.

Once more, I was tempted by the sirens' song of Vinted and shopped a bunch of summer dresses. I've said to myself that summer is becoming a longer and longer season, so I'm just adapting to it, but it's obvious that I went mad for sundresses in the middle of winter. Not sensible, moi?. Anyway, I'd like to wear one or two of them right now, even if some serious layering will be needed.

Otra vez he caído en los cantos de sirena de vinted y me he comprado unos cuantos vestidos de verano. Me digo que total el verano es cada vez más largo así que me estoy adaptando, pero no. Es evidente que me he vuelto muy loca por los vestidos de verano en medio del invierno. Absurda, ¿yo?. De todos modos, pienso ponerme uno o dos de estos vestidos en cuanto pueda, aunque haga falta llevar varias capas de ropa gorda.

February & Not Winter

The weather keeps playing tricks, some days it's unseasonably warm, but there are storms and strong winds too, which is totally spring-like!. Winter still hasn't reared its head, so I'm ready to store my warmer winter clothes and embrace this madness of a season. I'm a huge fan of dressing for the weather not for the season.

El tiempo sigue haciendo sus jugarretas, algunos días hace un calor totalmente fuera de temporada, pero también hemos tenido tormentas, viento, y en general un ambiente primaveral. Parece que el invierno ni va a aparecer este año, y yo ya estoy lista para guardar la ropa más invernal y abrigada, que ni me ha hecho falta, y tendremos que adaptarnos a esta locura de tiempo. Personalmente, me visto para el tiempo que hace, no según lo que diga el calendario.

It's still chilly in the mornings (3-5ºC) so some layering is welcomed. I've worn this oversized coat over jackets or cardis many times, as it's not heavy. Comfort is first in my book!.
That coat was shopped retail last year, the jacket came from Sunday street market (second hand) and that dress was acquired fifteen years ago. Boots were shopped retail. Necklace by Ciclón (it was a present). Massive shawl-scarf was shopped at Eme a local business, years ago!.

Todavía hace frío por las mañanas (3-5ºC) así que unas capas extra de ropa vienen bien. Me he puesto este abrigo tan enorme sobre chaquetas varias veces, ya que no es pesado, y resulta cómodo, es bueno para superposiciones. El abrigo lo compré en una tienda local el año pasado, la chaqueta roja es de segunda mano (del mercadillo) y el vestido tiene casi quince años. Botas de una tienda local. Collar de Ciclón (un regalo). Y la bufa-manta la compré hace años ya en la tienda local de Eme.

Those are some accessories I wore last week, sorry that I have not outfit pics but couldn't save anyone. Blurriness happens!. I wore my self made purple tunic (see it here) with matchy necklace and new earrings!

Sólo foto de los accesorios esta vez, las demás fotos salieron borrosas, no se salvó ni una. En fin, la Vida Real es así. Llevaba esta túnica morada que me cosí hace tiempo, con un collar en colores similares y unos pendientes ¡Nuevos!.

It was a busy week, as we took a day off to visit Mr.A's family, so some mundane tasks needed to be done the previous days (laundry, groceries shopping, cooking, Real Life!). Then, same happened at work as I had to catch up with emails and stuff after my day off. But I'm back to (stress-free) business as usual now!.

He tenido una semana bastante ocupada, ya que nos tomamos un día libre con la familia de Mr.A., así que hubo que hacer las tareas cotidianas con antelación (ya sabéis, poner la lavadora, hacer la compra, de nuevo la Vida Real). Luego me pasó lo mismo en el trabajo, que tuve que ponerme al día con todo el correo atrasado (¡menudo día libre!). Pero ya estoy de vuelta a mi habitual y tranquila vida normal.

This is my repeat offender of the week, as I wore same trousers and cardi twice, first with a black turtleneck and then with a blue one. There are so many possibilities as colours in the cardigan, so I'll keep on wearing this combo!. Totally my kind of outfit to run errands or go for an urban walk. My pyjama-like trousers are becoming a favourite, they were recently acquired at PuntRoma sales. Turtleneck by LaRedoute. Este es mi reincidente de la semana, ya que me puse estos mismos pantalones y misma chaqueta dos veces, primero con un cuello vuelto negro y luego con uno azul. Hay tantas posibilidades como colores lleva esta chaqueta, así que voy a seguir poniéndome este conjunto, muchas veces, es comodísimo para salir a hacer recados o para una caminata urbana. Estos pantalones pijameros son de PuntRoma de las rebajas y me están resultando estupendos. El cuello vuelto es de LaRedoute. La chaqueta-chaleco la hice en ganchillo hace poco, usando sobras de lana (de ahí el multicolorido) y este patrón gratis, sólo que yo le añadí unas mangas para aprovechar toda la lana que tenía. El pañuelo y el collar son de un mercadillo solidario de hace años. Botas de NorthFace outlet. Abrigo de Seasalt, de hace un par de años.

Orange Is The New Orange

As the weather keeps on being unseasonably warm most of the time (except a few foggy cold days), I also keep wearing my orange puffer jacket. It's amazing that most of my winter wardrobe is still stored in our spare room and I only wore my shearling coat twice. However we can still have storms and snow and some of that so needed rain, as the weather is so unpredictable.

Ya que el tiempo sigue siendo muy templado para esta época del año (salvo por unos pocos días de niebla y frío), sigo poniéndome la misma chaqueta acolchada naranja. Es increíble que la mayoría de mi ropa de invierno sigue guardada en el cuarto de las visitas y sólo me he puesto el abrigo de piel vuelta dos veces. Sin embargo todavía es posible que nos caigan nevadas, borrascas e incluso un poco de esa lluvia tan necesaria, porque el tiempo es totalmente impredecible.

This is a second hand polyester dress recently acquired at Sunday street market. It's a vintage piece altered by a previous owner, who enlengthened it and fitted it to her (probably) apple shaped figure. So totally ill fitting on me! ;DD. Not sure about keeping it, as I only feel comfortable wearing it under a long layer. So I added that long crochet cardi in pink (not matchy but who cares!) that I tied in a knot and hided under my puffer jacket, so it's only visible once I remove my jacket and let it out. Actually, too complicated for a busy life.

Este vestido de segunda mano fue adquirido en el mercadillo del domingo, es un vestido vintage que fue remodelado por la anterior propietaria, que le sacó el dobladillo y le hizo ajustes a su (probablemente) figura de manzana. Así que no se ajusta en absoluto a la mía. Por eso mismo estoy pensándome mucho el quedármelo, porque sólo lo veo bien si le añado una capa larga por encima, por ejemplo esta chaquetita larga de ganchillo en rosa (que no combina en color, pero da igual). Y me la até y recogí bajo la chaqueta, para que sólo se vea cuando me la quito, entonces se suelta y cae. Demasiado complicado, en realidad.

More orange colour next day!. I've worn same t-shirt and skirt together many times, even same necklace and scarf, so totally a repeat offender of an outfit. That skirt was made of a battered old bedspread which I dyed orange. T-shirt shopped retail years ago. Necklace was a present. Scarf was shopped at a street market. Shoes by Camper. Usual cork bag by Fine Cork Portugal. Crochet beret.

Más color naranja al día siguiente. Me he puesto esta misma camiseta y falda juntas muchas veces, incluso con el mismo collar y pañuelo, así que es un conjunto reincidente y mucho. La falda me la hice de un viejo cobertor o colcha que teñí de naranja. La camiseta de una tienda (creo que Festa) de hace años. El collar fue un regalo. Pañuelo de un mercadillo. Zapatos Camper. El habitual bolso de corcho de Fine Cork Portugal. Boina de ganchillo.

That's a viscose dress that I acquired at Vinted (it's not my favourite place, too much overpriced stuff). But I have a weakness for those colours!. I couldn't help but wear it with that orange jacket, and lots of matchiness (purple tights by Snag and some orange sneakers (Adidas outlet). It was so easy that probably I'll wear it again and again.

Este vestido de viscosa lo compré en Vinted (no es mi sitio favorito, creo que los precios están inflados). Pero tengo una debilidad por estos colores. Y no pude evitar volver a ponerme la chaqueta naranja, y a tope de conjuntada, medias moradas de Snag y zapatillas naranjas de Adidas outlet. Tan fácil que seguro que me lo vuelvo a poner una y otra vez.

It was such a warm evening that I throw caution to the wind and went out wearing just a (wool) cardigan. No coat!. Totally crazy weather!. Obviously, I almost freezed my %* when walked back home in the night after having a coffee with my friend M.

Hacía una tarde tan buena que me atreví a salir llevando sólo esta chaqueta de lana. Sin abrigo!. Un tiempo rarísimo!. Evidentemente, casi me congelo cuando volvía a casa ya de noche después de tomar un café con mi amiga M.
El vestido lo tengo al menos hace quince años, la chaqueta es de ganchillo (patrón de Katie Jones), botas de una tienda local y bolso de Emily The Strange de hace siglos.

I've watched lots of storks during my walks along the riverbanks. Lots of cormorants and ducks too!.
