floral print & autumn

This floral dress was acquired (second hand) on August 2019 and it has been worn many times. I like particularly its viscose knit fabric, a really nice texture that doesn't need ironing. And obviously this is a bright print, which I like, and it goes with many existing items in my wardrobe. There are still lots of possibilities to explore.
As I'm concerned, many summery dresses can be worn the whole year around, when their fabric have enough weight and a nice slippery texture. Even a sundress can be layered over a turtleneck and look nice, but some textures and fabrics don't layer well, so I recommend you to give them a try before. Because comfort is first!.

This vintage magazine has been an inspiration. But I've had to pospone my last crochet project, due to my wrist issues (arthritis). I'm looking forward to work this multicolored yarn, lots of colours in a single ball of wool!

Hope you're keeping yourselves safe and as fabulous as possible!

Another selection of photos I took of lunchs and dinners we had last week. (Left) We had some beans with cabbage (and chorizo!) for lunch, and some pickled chillies as a side plate. (Right) We have some fish for dinner frequently, with a salad. (Below) We're also having mushrooms frequently these days, this time with a salad and a small plate of cured iberian charcuterie, so posh!.

foggy days

We've had some cloudy, foggy and wet days, really unpleasant even if it was not really cold. It's the kind of weather to stay at home and crochet something while watching detective murder misteries (or whatever that tickles your fancy!).
Actually, I've visited my local knitting shop and bought some balls of wool on offer. I've also run some other errands which is something that rarely do these days. I've always enjoyed a visit to my favourite haberdashery or ironmongery, but now it feels like a major event. And it also feels like a social occasion, as most people is looking forward some (distanced) small talk. Not a problem for me, I'm pretty talkative if required, despite my introverted personality. I think it's important to keep on supporting local retailers and make them feel better if possible.
After having a look at my wardrobe, I feel like wearing light dresses and skirts before the weather becomes really cold. It's also a total mood booster and makes me feel put together and fancy (even if it's actually as comfy as wearing pyjamas).

bein' green

Do you remember the Kermit's song?. Well, I'm going green in more than one meaning!.
I've bought a green raincoat, which still amazes me as this is not one of my (many) favourite colours. I've been looking for a new raincoat for some time (I always try second hand first, then sustainable options). I was determined not to buy another black coat and, let us admit it, the offering is anything but widely varied. Navy and black, basically, and sometimes grey or soul-sucking beige. So this blueish green looked by far the most appealing choice to me.
I'd love to have a red winter coat or even limegreen or purple or (let me dream) a colourfully printed coat. In My Size (this reaches Unicorn Level!). But anyway it's nice to be green!

Showing the trainers/sneakers that I've collected through last years, due to my fussy feet issues and having new orthotics. Glad that I can pick so many colours. All of them were bought at a local retail store that sells outlet sport shoes.
Me alegra poder escoger tantos colores.

massive cardi & autumn

This massive cardi was worn for the first time on March (here), actually it was my last (published) outfit before lockdown. I had planned to wear it through the springtime, but this is another plan that had to be cancelled.
But we are in autumn/fall now and this means another opportunity to wear this cardi, even for a short time as the weather is cooling down quickly!. So let's make the most of Autumn!.

matrioskas skirt & cake

We're back in a semi-lockdown for a month, so no bars nor cafés are open, and we're not allowed to travel outside our city (except in case of need). Some time ago I would feel annoyed by other people's behaviour (actually many people look really unable to stop gathering with family and friends, even if no more than six persons are allowed to gather). But I'm learning to stay away from these feelings and stay focused on my own business.
So I'm keeping my mood up, dressing up to go to work, going for some walks in the parks and I'm even planning to meet a friend at the park for a distanced chat (bringing my thermos flask and a blanket). I've always had a cynical attitude, but now I'm counting my blessings and not caring a f*ck if it sounds overly sentimental. I'm getting all maudlin these days ;DD

I've worn my matrioskas print skirt once more!. This time I've picked a red t-shirt (with a rock'n'roll motive) and a turquoise bolero cardi that I recently bought at Sunday street market. My sneakers are actually neon orange, but it's a hard to photograph colour. So lots of colours!

Butternut squash cake:
I used this recipe (in spanish) but changed some ingredients.
-350 gr. of grated butternut squash (raw). I have an electric grater/slicer, but you can use a metal grater too.
Actually, I've made this cake using 325 to 400 gr. Just consider increasing baking time if you put a lot of butternut squash.
-125 gr. yogurt
-3 large eggs or 4 medium eggs
-100 gr. brown sugar (175 gr. if you prefer it sweet)
-80 gr. olive oil (it was 125 gr. butter in the original recipe)
-200 gr. flour: 100 gr. whole rye flour and 100 gr. wheat flour
-1 sachet of baking powder
-(freshly grated) nutmeg
-a pinch of salt
-2 spoons of ground almonds/almond flour (not an essential ingredient but it really makes a difference)

Grate the butternut squash and add the yogurt, then reserve it. Put the flour, baking powder, salt, nutmeg and almond flour in a bowl and mix everything. Use a bigger bowl to whisk eggs and sugar until well blended, then add the oil and whisk again. Add the butternut squash and yogurt and mix. Finally, incorporate the dry ingredients. Put the creamy mixture in a mould and bake it 180ºC(fan) 1/2 hour and then 175ºC 30 min or until a toothpick comes out (almost) clean. It's a juicy cake so expect some humidity.
I use a silicone mould and barely oil it, but other moulds require to be well greased.

-125 gr. yogur
-3 huevos grandes o 4 medianos
-100 gr. azúcar moreno (175 gr. si te gusta dulce)
-80 gr. aceite oliva
