Autumn & Rain

The Autumn was playing hide and seek last week, so, even if I consulted the weather forecast every night and every morning, most days I wore not weather appropriate clothes. Sometimes I was too optimistic and got caught in the rain without any raincoat nor umbrella. And sometimes I put on my tights and winter shoes only to find the sun shining and temperatures hitting the mid twenties. Actually I'm more on the optimistic side!

El otoño ha sido bastante evasivo la semana pasada así que, aunque he ido consultando la previsión del tiempo mañana y noche, muchos días no he acertado a elegir la ropa adecuada. Unas veces por ser muy optimista me caía un chaparrón sin llevar ni gabardina ni paraguas. Y otras veces me he puesto medias y zapato cerrado sólo para encontrarme un día de sol y las temperaturas alcanzando los veintitantos grados. En realidad, ¡siempre estoy más del lado optimista!

Monday morning was quite chilly and I picked my rainbow cardigan. But I let it at home and went out sans coat after lunch, as temperature rised up quickly. We ran errands and did some groceries shopping at the supermarket. Fascinating activities!
That's my 'polyester fantasy' dress that I shopped at Vinted in the spring. Turtleneck by LaRedoute (ages old). Snag tights. New sneakers by Nike. Statement necklace was charity shopped.

La mañana del lunes estaba bastante fresquita y me puse mi chaqueta de ganchillo multicolorísima. Pero luego la dejé en casa y salí sin chaqueta después de comer, porque hacía mucho más calor. Salimos a hacer recados y a hacer compra al super, todo actividades fascinantes.
Este vestido es una verdadera fantasía de poliéster, y lo compré en Vinted en mayo. Cuello vuelto de LaRedoute de hace siglos. Medias Snag. Zapatillas Nuevas de Nike. Collar de un mercadillo solidario.

Tuesday was a busy day not only at the office but also after work. I went to the doctor (just routine!) after lunch, then got a haircut and ran errands with Mr.A. until we were so damn tired that just collapsed on the sofa as soon as we were home.
I wore something really comfy and colourful to cheer up the day. Those trousers were shopped retail. Tunic-blouse by LaRedoute (decades ago). Crochet vest by me. Adidas sneakers (old). Trench by LaRedoute (old). Usual cork bag by FineCorkPortugal.

El martes fue un día ocupadísimo, no sólo en la oficina sino también después del trabajo. Tenía cita con el médico (cuestión de rutina) después de comer, luego fui a cortarme el pelo y más tarde a hacer recados con Mr.A. hasta que nos fuimos a casa agotados a tirarnos en el sofá.
Me puse algo cómodo y colorido para animar el día. Pantalón de una tienda local. Blusa-túnica de LaRedoute, de hace décadas ya. Chaleco de ganchillo. Zapatillas de Adidas antigüitas. Gabardina de LaRedoute, también antigua. Y el habitual bolso de corcho de FineCorkPortugal.

Finally, we could have some free time on Wednesday and went for a walk and a beer on a terrace. The weather was so incredibly good that we had to make the most of it.
Those trousers came from a clearance sale/outlet years ago. Top was made of a second hand/vintage dress. Seasalt trench jacket. New shoes by Eleméntérre.

Finalmente, conseguimos tener un poco de tiempo libre el miércoles y salimos a dar una vuelta y a tomar una cerveza en una terracita. El tiempo estaba buenísimo y había que aprovecharlo.

After a hailstorm around midnight, it rained the whole Wednesday night and Thursday dawned with a downpour. I was sensible enough to wear my Seasalt jacket and water-resistant shoes again. But also kept it colourful, by wearing my 'bold pastels' pullover and pink trousers. Even if not very visible under my shawl/scarf, I wore some charity shopped beads and those earrings which were acquired at a local retailer (Eme)

Después de que cayera una tormenta con granizo cerca de las doce de la noche, llovió toda la noche del miércoles y el jueves amaneció igualmente lluvioso. Tuve la prudencia de ponerme otra vez esta chaqueta impermeable de Seasalt y las zapatillas igualmente impermeables. Pero también elegí algo de colorido, con este jersey de ganchillo y unos pantalones rosados. Aunque no se ve mucho bajo el pañuelo, me puse también un collar de bolitas (de un mercadillo solidario) y pendientes adquiridos en Eme, una tienda local.

The Autumn rose its head on Friday when there was a distinctive northern chilly breeze. So not a barelegs kind of day. I picked a dress which was shopped at CandA years ago, Snag tights, sneakers by Sketchers and a wool jacket which came from a clearance sale/outlet (years ago too).

El viernes sí que fue un día otoñal y empezó a soplar ese vientecillo del norte tan distintivo. Así que nada de piernas al aire. Me puse este vestido comprado en CandA hace años, medias Snag, zapatillas de Sketchers y una chaqueta de cuadros de una liquidación-outlet antigüita.

To make things more interesting (and drive us crazy), Saturday was an incredibly sunny day and I was glad to go out barelegged again!. And I even wore a summer dress (Vinted) and one of my lightweight crochet cardigans (I'm still keeping them on hand, but they're going to be stored until spring soon!).

Para darle un poquito más de variedad, y volvernos más locos, el sábado hizo un sol increíble y menos mal que se me ocurrió salir sin medias, porque hizo mucho calor!. Si hasta me puse un vestido de verano (Vinted) y una de mis chaquetitas de ganchillo (todavía las tengo a mano, pero muy pronto tendré que guardarlas para la primavera).

I always tell you about we running errands on Saturday morning, so I decided to take some photos of our activities. There's a photo of Mr.A. queueing for some freshly ground coffee we usually shop at this café&shop, where you can see the coffee roasting machine they actually use!. I also took a lateral view of our local market where we do our groceries shopping. And I even took a selfie of us having some pinchos/tapas!. A little review on our wild lifestyle.

Siempre digo que los sábados por la mañana son para hacer recados, así que he ido sacando alguna foto de nuestras actividades. Una foto de Mr.A. en la cola para comprar café que normalmente compramos en esta tienda/cafetería, donde podéis ver la máquina con la que tuestan el café. También una foto del lateral del mercado donde compramos los comestibles. Y un selfie tomando unos pinchos!. Un pequeño resumen de nuestro interesantísimo y salvaje estilo de vida.

Usually I don't bother taking a photo of my outfit on Sunday, as I put on my 'walking clothes' and go for a walk along the river bank (and pay a visit to our local Sunday street market to buy some bread before coming home). However there was something different last Sunday, as I met my friend M. after my walk and we sat on a terrace for some chatting. We realised that Sunday mornings are all about people leaving their airbnb apartments (after a boozy weekend), rolling their cases, and stopping for a late breakfast at centric terraces. Totally a thematic park.
Those trousers came from a clearance sale/outlet, second hand t-shirt, cardi-vest was retail shopped years ago. New waterproof sneakers by Eleméntérre are really comfy.

Normalmente ni me molesto en sacarme foto el domingo, porque me pongo mi ropa 'de andar' y me voy a caminar por la orilla del río y luego hago una visita al mercadillo y compro pan. Pero el domingo pasado hice algo diferente, porque quedé con mi amiga M. después de mi paseo y nos sentamos en una terraza a charlar. Los domingos por la mañana son terreno para los grupitos que dejan sus apartamentos de airbnb después de un fin de semana de borrachera, haciendo rodar sus maletas y parando para un desayuno tardío en alguna terraza céntrica. Muy de parque temático.
Pantalones de una liquidación-outlet, camiseta de segunda mano, chaqueta/chaleco de una tienda local hace años. Estas zapatillas impermeables de Eleméntérre me están resultando muy cómodas.

Orange October

Autumn is one of my favourite times of the year, even if the weather is sometimes uncomfortably unpredictable, windy or rainy or sunny or all together at the same time. We started with some pleasantly warm days (but mornings were chilly around 12ºc) last week, but some storms have been visiting us since then, so the weather is really autumnal now. It's always a shock to the system when we come back from our southern holiday to find cloudy days and have to look for our raincoats and boots. So it's time for a seasonal wardrobe switch!

El otoño es uno de mis momentos favoritos del año, aunque el tiempo sea a veces tan imposible de predecir y cambie de viento a lluvia o sol, o todo a la vez!. Empezamos la semana con unos días templados muy agradables, aunque las mañanas fuesen frescas con unos 12ºC, pero enseguida llegaron las borrascas, así que el tiempo se ha vuelto ya otoñal del todo. Siempre es chocante cuando vuelves de unas vacaciones en el sur, con sol y buen tiempo, y te encuentras aquí los nubarrones y tienes que buscar corriendo las gabardinas y las botas. Así que es el momento de hacerle un cambio estacional al armario.

Still barelegged and wearing a summer dress last Saturday, when we were running errands (as usual). That dress was acquired before holiday but I didn't put it in my luggage as I always pack 'tested' clothes. It came from a second hand stall at Sunday street market for the huge amount of 2 euros, and it's a little bit oversized but I don't care (floaty dresses are so comfy in the summertime!). I wanted to wear it as soon as possible as the Autumn is coming and most of my summery clothes are going to be stored in boxes and bags in the spare room in a few days. Anyway, I'm keeping some summer dresses in my wardrobe, but not this one!.

Todavía sin medias y llevando un vestido de verano el pasado sábado, cuando salimos a hacer la compra, como de costumbre. Este vestido lo había comprado antes de vacaciones, pero no lo metí en la maleta porque prefiero siempre llevarme ropa ya testeada y probada. Lo compré en un puesto de segunda mano del mercadillo del domingo por la increíble cantidad de 2euros y me está un poquito grande pero casi mejor así, porque es estupendo llevar un vestido suelto en pleno verano. Quería llevarlo cuanto antes porque se acerca el otoño y se pasa el momento, hay que guardar ya la mayoría de ropa de verano (yo la guardo en cajas y bolsas en el cuarto de las visitas). De todos modos, siempre dejo algunos vestidos de verano en mi armario durante las siguientes temporadas, pero ésto no!.

Same dress, with another crochet creation, was worn on Monday to go to work. You know I love layering, but it's the first time I layer a crochet top over a dress!, interesting possibilities!. It was another chilly morning so puffer jacket to the rescue!. I'm making the most of that orange piece which was shopped retail, lots of wearing!.

Mismo vestido con otra pieza de ganchillo, para ir a trabajar el lunes. Ya sabéis cuánto me gustan las superposiciones, pero esta es la primera vez que me pongo un top de ganchillo sobre un vestido, veo aquí muchas posibilidades!. De nuevo la chaqueta acolchada naranja para otra mañana fresca, le estoy sacando mucho partido!.

I'm also wearing a lot that new trench-thing that was recently acquired. Perfect layering piece for windy or rainy weather (even if it's not totally waterproof). I had to wear that voluminous piece with my massive blue trousers, breaking the rule of never wearing massive/strangely shaped clothes both top and bottom. Whatever, it felts right for me, Lots of fun!. Those trousers came from Sunday street market too, crochet cardi by me, and necklace was charity shopped. Adidas sneakers.

También me estoy poniendo mucho esta especie de gabardina que compré hace poco. Es una prenda estupenda para llevar por encima cuando hace viento o llueve, aunque no se impermeable del todo. Tenía que ponerme esta prenda tan voluminosa con los pantalones también voluminosos y de diseño 'diferente', y romper esa norma de que no hay que llevar nunca prendas voluminosas tanto arriba como abajo. Me da igual y a mí me parece que queda bien y es cómodo y divertido. Los pantalones son de segunda mano del mercadillo, chaquetita de ganchillo y collar de un mercadillo solidario. Zapatillas Adidas.

De nuevo la gabardina neón y esta vez con una chaquetita de ganchillo muy conjuntada. El patrón de esta chaquetita es de Katie Jones, por si os interesa. Pantalón de una liquidación/outlet. Blusa de segunda mano. Zapatillas nuevas de Sketchers.

As I've swapped my computer with Mr.A, so now I have a laptop (over an old kitchen table) in my 'crafty corner'. But I'd like to give it a twist and bring home some furniture from Mom's house, paint some walls, be more organised. Some decoration is coming!.
Como he intercambiado ordenador con Mr.A., ahora tengo un portátil sobre una vieja mesa de cocina, en el cuarto de costura/pintura/lo que sea. Pero me gustaría darle otro aire y traerme algún mueble de casa de mi madre, pintar la pared, organizarlo mejor. Se avecina proyecto de decoración!.

And I'm almost catching up with Real Life, as that's my Saturday outfit!. Our usual groceries shopping was done on Friday evening, because Saturday was a bank holiday (National Day, a quite controversial celebration!). So we were free to go for a walk (in the rain!) and have some pinchos/tapas at our favourite tabernas. We spent the Saturday evening cooking a chicken casserole. Sunday evening was spent similarly cooking an aubergines frittata and (spanish style) lentils stew. So now we have a complete menu for the week in our fridge.

Y ya estoy casi alcanzando la Vida Real, porque estas fotos son del sábado. La habitual compra de comestibles del sábado la hicimos el viernes por la tarde, porque el sábado fue festivo. Así que quedamos libres para ir a dar una vuelta (bajo la lluvia) y tomar el vermú como de costumbre. El sábado tarde lo pasamos cocinando una cazuela de pollo guisado. Y el domingo tarde tocó hacer un pisto de berenjenas y unas lentejas. Así que ahora ya tenemos menú para la semana en el frigo.

Still Blogging

I've been delaying to update my blog, and isn't it amazing how can we procrastinate on doing things we love?.
But live can be hectic sometimes so I was feeling a little bit overwhelmed before holiday. Then holiday was a total disconnection time and now I'm back to work and routine and busy as a bee!.
Anyway, I'm going to keep on blogging, and I'm even considering my social media ban (as everybody has moved to IG!). But I still prefer old good blogs, they don't throw no-context photos on your screen, there's no neverending scroll!.

He estado retrasando actualizar el blog, no sé porqué una va aplazando el momento, incluso de hacer cosas que te gustan. Pero es que a veces la vida te atropella y ya estaba yo un poco embarullada antes de las vacaciones, mucho lío. Y luego en las vacaciones desconecté totalmente, y ahora que estoy de vuelta al trabajo y la rutina ya estoy otra vez liadísima.
Igualmente pienso seguir con el blog, incluso he considerado levantarle el veto a las redes sociales (es que todo el mundo se ha ido a IG). Pero todavía prefiero los anticuados blogs, que no te enganchan con su suministro imparable de imágenes sin contexto que no has elegido pero no puedes parar.

We've been in our usual Algarvian holiday for two weeks, which feels like ages ago even if we came back on September 27th. We visited same places year after year and I take photos of same favourite places. Even if the weather was not so hot than previous years, it was still warm enough for a sea swim most days, and we made the most of the rest of the time, visiting any nearby village that tickled our fancy (particularly Vila Real or Tavira, where we spent some mornings just walking and having a cofee or two). Even if tourism is becoming increasingly invasive (and prices increasingly expensive) we still found some hidden gems of tabernas and places to enjoy (you only have to get off the beaten track!).

Estuvimos en nuestras habituales vacaciones en el Algarve casi dos semanas, que ahora mismo parece que hace siglos aunque volvimos el 27 de septiembre. Volvimos a los mismos lugares de siempre y saqué las mismas fotos de siempre!. Aunque no hizo tanto calor como los años anteriores, todavía hizo buen tiempo como para bañarnos en el mar muchos días, y aprovechamos el resto del tiempo, visitando algún pueblo que nos apeteciera (especialmente Vila Real y Tavira, donde pasamos algunas mañanas simplemente paseando y tomando un café (o dos). Aunque el turismo se ha vuelto cada vez más invasivo (y los precios cada vez más altos) todavía hemos encontrado algunas tabernas de comida tradicional y lugares con encanto en cuanto te alejas de lo más trillado.

As we spent a day in Caceres, I packed a small bag just for a night out, apart of my usual luggage. But I kept it quite minimal: four dresses, three pairs of sandals, a cardi. I'm a huge fan of Vintage Vixen's advice on light packing!. And obviously, I wore my most voluminous (and warm) items during our travel as the weather was not particularly summery: I almost freezed my **** when we stopped for a coffee near Burgos.

Como pasamos un día en Cáceres, preparé una bolsa aparte para esa noche, y luego el equipaje de verdad. Pero creo que resultó bastante mínimo: cuatro vestidos, tres sandalias, una chaquetita. Me encantan los consejos de Vintage Vixen para viajar ligero!. Y evidentemente, me puse mi ropa y calzado más voluminoso (y más abrigado) para el viaje, porque el tiempo no estaba nada veraniego: casi me hielo cuando paramos cerca de Burgos a tomar un café!.

Those old pink sneakers gave up and decided to dismantle during our walk (that photo was taken minutes before they lost part of their soles). So I shopped a pair of sneakers, and they were worn immediately because it was rainy during our travel home.

Estas zapatillas rosa (ya bastante usadas, pero me encantaban) decidieron empezar a deshacerse durante un paseo. La foto la tomé minutos antes de que perdieran parte de las suelas. Así que tuve que comprarme otras zapatillas y estrenarlas ya, porque se puso a llover durante nuestro viaje de vuelta.

Back at home, we spent the weekend doing the laundry (I put the washing machine five times in three days, glad it was sunny!) and shopping groceries. Because we were back at work on Monday and that means lots of mundane tasks to be accomplished: menus to be designed, food to be cooked and get things done in general.

De vuelta en casa, pasamos el fin de semana poniendo lavadoras (cinco veces en tres días, menos mal que hacía sol) y llenando la nevera. Porque el lunes ya empezábamos a trabajar, lo que implica tareas pendientes que hay que hacer, pensar menús, preparar comida, y en general la vida cotidiana.

That was my Saturday outfit to run errands and I repeat almost the same thing on Monday (first day at work). Those trousers were shopped at a clearance sale/outlet store, as I couldn't resist that pucci-nesque print. Wore them with a black blouse (second hand) and my puff jacket (chilly morning!). That's another bag I shopped in Portugal years ago, by Fine Cork Portugal. Sneakers by Adidas.

Esto es lo que llevaba el sábado para ir a hacer la compra, y lo repetí casi exactamente el lunes, primer día de trabajo. Los pantalones son de una tienda outlet, y no pude resistir ese estampado puccinesco. Me los puse con una blusa negra (de segunda mano) y la chaqueta acolchada porque estaba fresquete. Este bolsito es otro más que compré en Portugal hace años, de Fine Cork Portugal. Zapatillas Adidas.

Colourful Autumn

We're coming into my favourite part of the Summer (which is usually called Autumn) and I've welcomed some light layering!. It's time for crochet cardis, trenchs and jackets in the chilly mornings, but still sandals weather in the evenings. Lots of possibilities.

Ahira estamos llegando a mi parte favorita del verano, ¡el otoño!. Así que es el momento de añadir alguna capa, alguna superposición en forma de chaquetitas de ganchillo, gabardinas y americanas para las mañanas fresquitas, pero todavía llevando sandalias por la tarde. Me encanta el entretiempo!

That's a favourite outfit for shoulder seasons, comfy and colourful!. Massive flower skirt was made of a second hand dress. Blouse was self sewed, years ago. Colourful crochet cardi by myself (pattern by Katie Jones. Sneakers by Adidas (outlet). Straw bag was a retail shop.

Este es uno de mis conjuntos favoritos de entretiempo, cómodo y colorido. La falda de la flor enorme salió de un vestido de segunda mano, hace años. Chaqueta de ganchillo, con patrón de Katie Jones. Zapatillas de Adidas (outlet). Bolso de paja de una tienda local.

And that's another crochet cardi (I've becoming addicted to them)!, which was recently finished. Actually I undone a pink cardi that I crocheted ages ago to make something different. It's one of the best things of knitting/crocheting, as you can recycle same materials almost forever.

Y esta es otra chaquetita de ganchillo, quizás sean ya demasiadas!. Esta la acabé hace poco, pero es una remodelación de una que ya tenía, la rehice por completo. Es una ventaja del punto y el ganchillo, los materiales se reciclan una y otra vez, las veces que haga falta.

More crochet and a New Piece in my wardrobe: that neon trench-thing was retail shopped last week and worn the next day. Totally the kind of layering piece I was looking for and it was around the corner in a local shop. I wore it with another Repeat Offender, those turquoise trousers (try to repeat it!) and a crochet cardi firstly, then a crochet top next day.

Más ganchillo y una Novedad!: una especie de gabardina Neón que compré en una tienda local la semana pasada. Justo lo que estaba buscando, algo ligero para superposiciones. Y estaba a la vuelta de la esquina en un escaparate!. Lo estrené al día siguiente con otro reincidente, los pantalones turquesa que compré hace tiempo y una chaqueta de ganchillo primero y un top al siguiente día.

I've worn that ensemble many times, it's one of my favourites and everything (except Adidas sneakers) was shopped second hand at Sunday street market.
Este conjunto lo he llevado muchas veces, es uno de mis favoritos y todo (excepto las zapatillas adidas) es de segunda mano del mercadillo.

As soon as Mr.A.'s parents let our home, we had to prepare to attend a wedding!. We stayed in a beautiful rural house, that we shared with other wedding guests. So funny to share previous day dinner and wedding day breakfast with so lovely people and my friend M. (the mother of the groom). More pictures to come as soon as I get them!
