Winter & Rain

As you've probably seen on the news, there were lots of problems in the south of Spain because of the heavy rains (torrents of rainwater actually) last weeks. Severe floods caused some villages to be evacuated, and damages caused are really hard to believe. A year's rain in just a few weeks. However, we've not been affected by that crazy rain, even the weather maps look like placed upside down as the storms have been hitting Andalusia and not the (usually wettest) north of Spain. Anyway, it has rained some days and I've tried to keep my spirits up by doing something most people consider frivolous: dressing up in some fav and colourful clothes. Not so frivolous if it works and makes you feel better!
Como seguramente habréis visto en las noticias, las lluvias torrenciales han causado toda clase de problemas en el sur del país, en las últimas semanas. Inundaciones graves, pueblos evacuados y daños nunca vistos. Y la lluvia de un año entero en unas semanas. Sin embargo, por aquí hemos tenido la suerte de no tener esas lluvias tan fuertes, incluso parece que el mapa del tiempo está cabeza abajo, porque esas borrascas que han golpeado Andalucía son mucho más normales en el húmedo y lluvioso norte. De todos modos, sí que ha llovido unos días y he intentado mantenerme animada haciendo algo que mucha gente considera frívolo, como es ponerme mi ropa favorita y más colorida. No será tan frívolo si funciona y hace que el humor mejore!.

Think pink (and purple!). It was another rainy day, so I wore my Seasalt trench (old) but picked some pink accessories to cheer up the day. Pink beret was shopped retail last year. Crochet cardi-net by me. Second hand blouse and palazzo trousers. Those trousers were a jumpsuit when I found them but were revamped: I just folded the 'top' in two to create an elastic waist. Purple Camper shoes. Massive leather bag by a local artisan. Crochet mittens were a present.
Mucho rosa (y morado)!. Otro día de lluvia y yo me puse este abrigo impermeable de Seasalt, de hace años, pero elegí algunos accesorios en rosa fuerte para animar un poco el día. Boina fucsia de una tiendecita local del año pasado. Chaqueta-red de ganchillo. Blusa y pantalón de segunda mano. Los pantalones eran un mono-enterizo cuando lo compré, pero le hice un cambio, simplemente doblando el 'top' en dos para crear una cintura elástica. Zapatillas moradas Camper. El bolso enorme es de un artesano local. Los mitones de ganchillo fueron un regalo.

I think that accessories make a difference, particularly brooches and necklaces, despite sometimes they're barely visible under coats and scarves. Second hand dress by Vinted (last year). En mi opinión, los accesorios marcan la diferencia, en especial los broches y los collares, a pesar de que a veces no se ven apenas debajo de tanto abrigo y tanta bufanda. El vestido es de segunda mano (Vinted) del año pasado. Chaqueta polar del CandA (sí, es un forro polar, no me juzguéis!). Medias Snag (color Peach Party). Zapatos Camper. Bolso de corcho de FineCorkPortugal. Pañuelo de AlpagaLeMonde, de hace dos años. El broche me lo dió mi mamá. Collar regalo de Veronica (que tenía un blog que echo de menos). Pendientes MateriaRica (de una tienda local).

Layers do not have to be uncomfortable nor boring!. I wore my pink fleece jacket (by CandA, ages old) under a lightweight coat (by Ulla Popken), and it was a really weather appropriate ensemble (it was not a really cold day). Usually, I also wear a turtleneck under my summery dresses to winter-ize them. That dress was acquired at Vinted two years ago and it's one of my favourite ones when packing for holidays. I do love a comfy dress!. DrMartens boots are ages old. That brooch was charity shopped years ago. I've remade that necklace and added a bigger pendant, which I think looks better (inspired by Vintage Vixen!). Earrings were retail shopped. Sunnies were a present by my friend M. (took them to my optician to replace their lenses with prescription ones).

Las superposiciones no tienen que ser ni aburridas ni incómodas. Me puse este forro polar fucsia (del CandA, antigüito) bajo un abriguito ligero de Ulla Popken que compré el año pasado, y estuve muy cómoda, perfecto para un día no muy frío. Normalmente me pongo un cuello vuelto (de viscosa) bajo mis vestidos de verano para poder llevarlos en invierno. Este vestido lo compré en Vinted hace ya dos años y es uno de mis favoritos para meter en la maleta cuando voy de vacaciones. Me encanta un vestido cómodo y versátil. Las botas DrMartens son de hace siglos. El broche es de una tienda solidaria, hace años. El collar está hecho con piezas sueltas de otros collares, y le añadí un colgante, creo que le va mejor (inspiración de Vintage Vixen!). Pendientes de tienda local. Gafas de sol regalo de mi amiga M., que llevé a la óptica para ponerles cristales graduados.

Colour & Winter

I've been wearing same old clothes, shopping my wardrobe again and again!. Lots of Repeat Offenders around!. But I've also acquired some new-to-me accessories (at Vinted, again!) and wore them immediately. Actually I feel like adding more accessories to my winter clothes, and more colour too!

Nada nuevo por aquí, sigo llevando la misma ropa de siempre, yendo de compras a mi armario una y otra vez. Todo reincidentes. Pero sí que he comprado algunos accesorios, de segunda mano (en Vinted, de nuevo!) y los he estrenado inmediatamente. Me apetecía añadirle un toque a mi ropa invernal, así que me he puesto más bisutería y más color también.

That orange puff jacket was 'waterproofed' by adding my neon windbreaker, layers of colour for a rainy day!. That massive flower skirt was shopped at Sunday street market (second hand) years ago. Striped pullover by PuntRoma(old). Yellow boots by Northface outlet (old). I wore those new-to-me resin earrings and massive bracelet (Vinted) and a charity shopped necklace, and also added a vintage enamel brooch to my beret. As brooches should not be pinned to puff coats and most of the time they're hidden under scarves and shawls, I've found that berets can be a great background for them!.

Mi chaqueta acolchada naranja no es lo mejor para la lluvia, así que le puse por encima este impermeable/cortavientos neón, superposiciones para un día de lluvia!. La falda de la flor enorme la compré en un mercadillo (de segunda mano) hace años. Jersey de rayas de PuntRoma, antigüito. Botitas amarillas de Northface outlet. Y el estreno de unos pendientes nuevos-para-mí y una pulsera enorme de resina, de Vinted. También me puse este collar (de una tienda solidaria) y un broche vintage en la boina. Como los broches no se deberían prender en los acolchados y tampoco son visibles bajo las bufandas y chales en esta época del año, me los estoy poniendo en las boinas o gorras para más visibilidad!

More colour for another cold day!. I wore some warm clothes, my wool pullover (pattern by Katie Jones) and also wool skirt by Escada that I acquired at a street market for two or three euros (one of my fav finds!). I like those flapperish pleats, even if it's so difficult to take a photo of them (particularly in a windy day!). Snag tights (Anemone). I've neglected those (ages old) DrMartens boots, as they don't accommodate my orthotics, so only wear them for short walks!. That coat was acquired last year at Ulla Popken. Scarf by AlpagaLeMonde. New bag by Lolina (retail shopped).
Más color en otro día de frío. Me puse ropa calentita, el jersey de lana (patrón de Katie Jones) y la falda que es también de lana, de Escada (que compré en un mercadillo por dos o tres euros, y es de mis hallazgos favoritos) y que es muy difícil de fotografiar en movimiento en un día de viento!, pero me gusta ese aire flapper de los paneles moviéndose cuando andas. Las medias son Snag (color Anemone). Y estas botas DrMartens no me las pongo tanto porque no puedo usarlas con mis plantillas ortopédicas, así que sólo son para paseos cortos. El abrigo es del año pasado, de Ulla Popken. Bufandita de AlpagaLeMonde. Bolso nuevo Lolina, de una tienda local.

I picked a darker inspiration on Friday, and wore that second hand dress (jazzed up by Ramonak Workshop) and striped tights by Snag. Retail shopped boots and also retail shopped coat. Short sleeved cardi by Evans (ages old). Necklace by Ciclón. Shawl was retail shopped too.
El viernes elegí un colorido más oscuro, y me puse este vestido de segunda que lleva un dibujo encargado a Ramonak Workshop, y medias de rayas de Snag. Las botas son de una tienda local y el abrigo también. Chaquetita de manga corta de Evans, de hace siglos. Collar marca Ciclón. Chal de una tiendecita local.

Repeat, please!

Totally in a Repeat Offender mood last weeks, I've worn my old winter coats and clothes again and again, shopping my closet. Not a bad thing!. But I've also been visiting second hand webs and finally shopped some dresses and stuff, probably because of January being such a dismal month (excuses, excuses). Now I have to make some room for them, so my wardrobe is now under ruthlessly examination and some (not so fabulous) pieces have to go out. Keeping things tidy!
Totalmente en modo repetitivo las últimas semanas, he llevado los mismos abrigos y mismas prendas de invierno de siempre, una y otra vez, sacándole partido a mi armario. Pero también estuve curioseando las webs de segunda mano y al final he comprado unos vestidos y cositas, supongo que porque Enero es un mes bastante poco animado (excusas!). Ahora tendré que hacerles sitio, así que mi armario está ahora mismo bajo un despiadado análisis y va a haber prendas (no especialmente estupendas) que se tendrán que ir fuera. Haciendo un poco de mantenimiento!

I'm taking you back in time to Saturday the 17th, when we did our usual groceries shopping and other mundane tasks. I was going to pick some books at the public library (which is around that corner) when asked Mr.A. to take a photo since the sky was menacing rain. Actually, it was raining cats and dogs when we went out of the library, so we had to go shopping an umbrella at a nearby bazaar. Neither of us is a huge fan of umbrellas but we made the most of our new and massive one.
Top and skirt were previously a second hand dress which I revamped some time ago. Adidas sneakers (old). Crochet cardi (barely visible). Massive scarf/shawl was retail shopped years ago. Coat was also retail shopped (label Sophiacurvy). New bag label Lolina.
Nos vamos de vuelta al sábado 17, cuando salimos por la mañana a hacer la compra y unos cuantos recados. Justo iba a sacar unos libros de la biblioteca pública, que queda a la vuelta de la esquina, y le pedí a Mr.A. que mejor me sacara una foto porque el cielo estaba amenazando lluvia. En realidad, ya estaba lloviendo a mares cuando salimos de la biblioteca, y tuvimos que correr a comprar un paraguas a un bazar cercano. No es que nos gusten mucho los paraguas a ninguno de los dos, pero menos mal!.
Este top y falda fueron antes un vestido de segunda mano que reformé, hace tiempo. Zapatillas Adidas, antigüitas. Chaquetita de ganchillo (apenas se ve). Bufanda/chal de una tienda local. También abrigo de una tienda local (marca Sophiacurvy). Bolso nuevo marca Lolina.

Orange is the new orange!. Sunny monday called for some vitaminic colour (even under a black coat). Black 'normal' trousers by PuntRoma. Second hand orange shirt and t-shirt. El naranja es el nuevo naranja!. Nada como un color vitamínico en un lunes soleado, incluso bajo un abrigo negro. También pantalón negro, muy normal, del PuntRoma. Even if we have had some sunny (but cold) mornings, we also had storms and damp weather almost everyday. Only that I don't take my photos in the rain!. Please, don't draw the wrong conclusions (everything looks sunnier&better in the social media!). So I made the most of Friday morning to take photos, it was gloriously warm, and no windy!. I had picked one of my 'classic' colour combos and added a bold colour to my black&white dress (CandA, old), with some Hot Pink tights by Snag and pink turtleneck. Charity shopped necklace. Retail shopped beret. Adidas sneakers (old).
Aunque hemos tenido días soleados pero fríos por la mañana, también ha estado nublado y tormentoso casi cada día. Sólo porque no me tomo las fotos en la lluvia no significa que no llueva!, a veces las imágenes son engañosas en las redes sociales!. Así que el viernes por la mañana aproveché para sacar fotos, hacía un tiempo muy bueno y sin viento!. Había elegido una de mis combinaciones de color clásicas, añadir un color vivo y fuerte a mi vestido blanco y negro (del CandA, antiguo), con unas medias en rosa fuerte de Snag y un cuello vuelto rosa también. Collar de una tienda solidaria. Boina de una tienda local. Zapatillas Adidas, antigüitas.

It was also a sunny morning (damn cold and windy too!) on Saturday, when we ran errands. We enjoyed our walk to the market and some chatting with retailers. We made the most of the weather again, as storm Ingrid hit us in the evening. Same happened on Sunday, sunny morning and wild winds and rain in the evening. So crazy weather.

También una mañana soleada (aunque con frío y viento) el sábado, cuando salimos a hacer la compra, pasamos un rato muy agradable en nuestro paseo hasta el mercado y nuestra habitual charla con los vendedores y conocidos. De nuevo aprovechamos el tiempo, porque luego nos golpeó la borrasca Ingrid por la tarde y se puso feísimo. Lo mismo pasó el domingo, una mañana soleada y viento fuerte y lluvia por la tarde. Qué tiempo tan loco!.

Winter Is For Colour (again and again)

Winter has reared its head, and the world could be going bananas, but I still can keep my head and obviously, I keep on wearing clothes. And colourful ones. Because, whatever the weather, I'd like to keep it lighthearted and mood boosting!. So let's talk about outfits!
Al fin ha llegado el invierno y el año ha empezado torcido, pero hay que seguir adelante y evidentemente, seguimos llevando ropa. Personalmente, una ropa bastante colorida. Porque, sea como sea, me gustaría seguir manteniendo una actitud positiva y entreteneros con mis conjuntos.

That's an outfit from previous week, when it was really cold. So polka-dot coat to the rescue. Having a warm coat which also suits your style, it makes a difference (and it's worth some investment if possible). I believe that you have to acquire the best coat you can afford (and there are lots of second hand options!). That coat was retail shopped some years ago (label Sophiacurvy) and I'm still making the most of it!. Beach tunic was a second hand find. Skirt and tights by Snag. Adidas Sneakers. Retail shopped scarf and beret.

Esto es de la semana anterior, cuando hacía más frío aún. Así que el momento perfecto para ponerse el abrigo de lunares. Creo que tener un abrigo calentito que además sea de tu estilo es muy interesante, y merece la pena una inversión. Siempre a favor del mejor abrigo que te puedas permitir (y hay opciones de segunda mano!). Este abrigo lo compré en una tienda local hace ya unos años y todavía sigue en buen uso, le estoy sacando partido!. La túnica es de segunda mano, una túnica de playa. Medias y falda de Snag. Zapatillas Adidas. Bufanda y boina de tiendas locales.

Colour Therapy!. That's what I wore last Friday when I took a day off, ran errands and did some groceries shopping. It was a windy day, as you can see!, so difficult to take photos!. I received some compliments from my greengrocer and baker, they're both so lovely ladies.

Terapia de Color!. Esto es lo que me puse el pasado viernes, cuando me tomé un día libre para hacer unos recados y también pasé por el mercado a hacer compra. Hacía mucho viento, como podéis ver, muy difícil sacar fotos!. Las encantadoras chicas de la frutería y la panadería me hicieron cumplidos!.

That's totally a Repeat Offender, same dress (Vinted, label Toscane) and same crochet cardi under same Seasalt coat again and again. I just added some accessories to keep things interesting, but actually don't feel any urge to wear something different and New!. So Repeat Offender to the rescue!
Reincidente total, el mismo vestido (Vinted, marca Toscane) y misma chaquetita de ganchillo bajo el mismo abrigo de Seasalt, que he llevado muchas veces. Añadí unos accesorios para darle un toque interesante, pero no tengo esa urgencia de llevar algo diferente y nuevo todo el rato. Así que ningún problema en repetir ropa.

Purple galore!. It was a cold day, so layered a massive wool shawl, instead of wearing a cardi. But did not pick the right coat, as that black coat is not particularly warm and its wide sleeves are not the best idea in a cold windy day. Anyway I wore some favourite pieces, that vintage 80's skirt and my new purple waistcoat and matchy Camper shoes!.
Todo en púrpura!. Era un día frío, así que me eché encima este chal de lana en vez de llevar una chaqueta. Pero no elegí bien el abrigo, porque este abrigo negro no es muy grueso y esas mangas anchas dejan pasar todo el frío. Las otras prendas son de mis favoritas, la falda vintage de los 80, el chaleco morado y zapatos Camper a juego!
