Sudden Spring

Spring reared its head for the weekend, after another mixed weather week (sunny spells and storms, sometimes all together). The mornings were still chilly so I wore a coat to walk to work most days, but the evenings were quite warm and we enjoyed some urban walks. Totally my kind of quiet life. So I've not payed attention to computers nor internet after work, there are many interesting things to enjoy outdoors!

La primavera apareció de pronto para el fin de semana, pero sólo después de una semana entera de tiempo muy variable, con ratos de sol y tormentas (a veces al mismo tiempo). Las mañanas siguen siendo frescas, así que me puse un abrigo para ir a trabajar muchos días, ya que salgo temprano, pero las tardes han sido muy agradables y sí que hemos salido bastante por la ciudad. El tipo de vida tranquila que me gusta. Así que no he hecho mucho caso del ordenador ni internet después del trabajo, ¡hay muchas más cosas interesantes que hacer por ahí fuera!.

It was still chilly on Monday morning, so I wore some trousers and a lightweight pullover. Then added a cotton gauze shirt just because of the print, as sometimes layering makes a difference. That purple trousers came from second hand stalls at Sunday street market, originally it was a (quite ridiculous) strapless jumpsuit by H&M. I usually remove elasticated tops, but it was not necessary this time, as I just folded it in two to create a elastic waistband. Easiest revamp ever. Green pullover and gauze shirt were also acquired at second hand stalls. Sneakers by Adidas (outlet), old. Trench by Seasalt (old). Usual cork bag by Fine Cork Portugal.

Todavía estaba fresquete el lunes por la mañana, así que me puse un pantalón y un jersey finito. Luego le puse por encima una camisa de gasa de algodón, simplemente por añadir una capa de estampado y color, que me parece que marca la diferencia. Este pantalón morado lo encontré de segunda mano en el mercadillo del domingo, en principio era un mono-enterizo sin tirantes del H&M, de diseño bastante ridículo. Normalmente lo que hago es quitar el top elástico de este tipo de prendas, pero esta vez no hizo falta, simplemente doblé en dos el top y con eso se creó una cintura elástica ancha. La renovación más fácil del mundo. El jersey verde y la camisa de gasa también vinieron de puestos de segunda mano. Zapatillas Adidas outlet. Abrigo gabardina de Seasalt. El habitual bolso de corcho de Fine Cork Portugal.

That's a very similar outfit, same trench coat with a pair of trousers and a light pullover/t-shirt and a gauze cotton tunic on top. Really comfy and easy to wear outfit that I've worn many times. Fuchsia trousers by PuntRoma (ages old), striped t-shirt by CandA (old), and an ancient beach dress that I usually wear open (shopped it retail years ago, 4x4). Shoes by Allrounders (old).

Este es otro conjunto muy similar, con la misma gabardina, un pantalón y una camiseta fina, y luego una túnica de gasa de algodón por encima. Es algo muy cómodo y fácil de llevar, que me he puesto muchas veces. Pantalón fucsia de PuntRoma (antiquísimo), camiseta de rayas del CandA, y un vestido de playa que compré en 4x4 hace siglos y que suelo llevar abierto como camisa. Zapatos de Allrounders (antigüitos).

Sunny spells have become sunny mornings, and even sunny days!. So I've embraced a summery attitude in the form of that joyful tunic, which was shopped retail years ago (label Antica Sartoria) and never fails to cheer up the day!. Red trousers from a clearance sale (old & mended!), Adidas sneakers, scarf was a present by Mom.

Los ratitos de sol se convierten en mañanas soleada y luego en días soleados. Así que me he dejado llevar por la actitud veraniega en forma de esta túnica colorida, que comoré hace años en una tienda local (marca Antica Sartoria) y que siempre acierta a animar el día. Pantalón rojo de una liquidación (antiguo y remendado), zapatillas de Adidas, pañuelo fue un regalo de Mamá.

Another mood booster piece is that pair of trousers, they're a key piece in my 'shoulder seasons' wardrobe. They came from a second hand stall at Sunday street market, probably one of my best finds ever, as I paid 2€ for that fab quality piece with an interesting design!. Not everybody's cup of tea, but mine's for sure!. Red jacket also came from second hand stalls. Striped t-shirt from a clearance sale. Adidas sneakers (outlet). Necklace was charity shopped.

Otra prenda que siempre me funciona y me anima el día es este pantalón, un esencial en mi armario de entretiempo. Es uno de mis mejores hallazgos en los puestos de segunda mano del mercadillo, pagué 2€ por esta prenda de calidad muy buena y además con un diseño interesante. No es que sea del gusto de todo el mundo, pero del mío Mucho!. La chaqueta roja también salió del mercadillo. Camiseta de rayas de una liquidación. Zapatillas Adidas outlet. Collar de un mercadillo solidario.

This is my last crochet project which has turned in a sewing project too: I crocheted this bag for a friend and, obviously, I had to add a lining!. But not any lining!. Finally I found some appropriate fabric in my stash!.

Este es mi último proyecto de ganchillo, que se ha convertido en proyecto de costura también. Tejí un bolso de ganchillo para una amiga y, claro está, tenía que ponerle un forro, y además, no podía ser uno cualquiera, tenía que ir combinado. Al final encontré algo adecuado entre los sobrantes que voy guardando, menos mal!.

Mixed Spring

We had a terrific weather last weekend, and reached some amazing temperatures (30ºC) on Sunday and even Monday, then they plumeted and haven't recovered since then. So most of my week have been like a blast to the past, as I had to wear a coat (and tights!) again. Normal spring weather, I suppose.
But it has been a nice week, I managed to go for some walks, get some mundane tasks done and have some social life too.
El fin de semana pasado tuvimos un tiempo estupendo, incluso alcanzando los 30ºC el domingo y el lunes también, pero luego se desplomaron las temperaturas y no se han recuperado. Así que la mayoría de mi semana ha sido como un viaje al pasado, ya que tuve que sacar el abrigo otra vez (y medias!). Tiempo normal de primavera, supongo.
Pero ha sido una buena semana, he conseguido aprovechar las tardes para hacer recados, pasear y hasta tener vida social.

But let's go back to Saturday, when it was so sunny that I picked that crochet top for its maiden outing, but, sensible as I am, also carried a jacket that finally never wore. Obviously, I had to wear more turquoise colour, so here you have those trousers again!. They came from a retail shop (and I went back for more, as I bought same trousers in other colours). Sneakers by Adidas (outlet).

De vuelta al sábado pasado, cuando hacía tanto calor que elegí estrenar este jersey de ganchillo, pero, como soy muy prudente, me llevé también una chaqueta que al final ni me puse. Claro está, tenía que añadir aún más color turquesa, así que aquí está este pantalón otra vez. Lo compré en una tienda local (y me gustó tanto que lo repetí en otros colores). Zapatillas de Adidas (outlet).

On Monday, I put on a new-to-me dress with minimum layering, as it was really hot in the morning. But not in the evening, when we went for a walk and errands and got caught in the rain. Actually, we have had storms (and hail sometimes) every evening since then. Not the best weather to go for a walk, but we made the most of any respite between storms!.

El lunes me puse este vestido nuevo-para-mí con una mínima superposición, ya que hacía calor desde la mañana. Aunque cambió por la tarde, cuando fuimos a dar una vuelta y hacer recados y nos cayó un chaparrón. En realidad, hemos tenido tormentas (hasta con granizo a veces) cada tarde desde el lunes. No es el mejor clima para pasear, pero se puede aprovechar los momentos de calma entre chaparrones.

El vestido es de Vinted (marca Toscane), hecho de gasa de algodón, y tan cómodo que dan ganas de no quitárselo nunca (así que probablemente sea uno de mis reincidentes tan pronto como el tiempo lo permita). The weather was rainy and windy on Tuesday, but I decided to wear a riot of colours. I was looking forward to wearing that new-to-me dress, after having removed a ruched detail in the front and changed original white buttons for turquoise ones! (both changes made a difference!). And obviously, I had to add more colour and matchiness, so wore my crochet coat, even if it was chilly for that!

El tiempo seguía lluvioso y con viento el martes, pero a mí me dió por llevar este festival de colores. Estaba deseando estrenar este otro vestido nuevo-para-mí, después de retocarlo un poco, quitándole unos fruncidos que tenía y cambiándole unos botones blancos por unos turquesa (y ambos cambios valieron la pena!). Y claro está que tenía que añadirle todavía más color, en forma de esta chaqueta de ganchillo, aunque la verdad que no fue muy apropiada para el clima, hacía fresco!

Wednesday was another rainy and windy day, so I turned to that classic ensemble of Seasalt trench and some jungle print trousers (old) and waterproof shoes (by Chiruca, old). Striped pullover by PuntRoma, ages old, and that colourful scarf was a present by Mom.
It was not that rainy in the evening finally, but I can assure you that I felt comfy in my coat, chilly as it was. I payed a visit to the haberdashery and then we had some social life in our favourite tabernas (I lead a wild life!)

El miércoles fue otro día de lluvia y viento, así que hubo que recurrir al típico conjunto de gabardina de Seasalt y unos pantalones de estampado jungla y zapatos a prueba de agua (de Chiruca, antiguos). El jersey de rayas es de PuntRoma, antiquísimo, y el pañuelo de colores fue un regalo de mi madre.
Al final no llovió tanto por la tarde, pero puedo aseguraros que yo estaba comodísima envuelta en este abrigo, porque no hacía ni pizca de calor. Fuí a mi mercería favorita y luego hicimos un poco de vida social en nuestros bares habituales (llevo una vida salvaje!).

This is my repeat offender of the week, an outfit I told you I'd wear in repeat ten days ago and I've kept a promise. So I wore same 80's dress, same crochet cardi-vest made by me, same shoes by ElNaturalista (old) and (unfortunately) same tights by Snag. It's dissapointing to wear tights again!.

Este es mi reincidente de la semana, ya que amenacé con repetir conjunto hace diez días y lo he cumplido. Así que me puse este vestido de los ochenta, con la misma chaqueta de ganchillo, los mismos zapatos ElNaturalista (antiguos) y (desafortunadamente) mismas medias de Snag. Es tan decepcionante volver a ponerse medias otra vez!

That's what I wore to visit my hairdresser and have a (well needed) hair cut. I've worn this same ensemble many times, but it still tickles my fancy, a favourite colour combo!. Esto es lo que me puse para ir a la peluquería para un corte de pelo que ya me estaba haciendo falta. Me he puesto este mismo conjunto muchas veces, pero aún me sigue motivando, es una combinación de colores que me encanta. Chaqueta acolchada naranja de una tienda local, Vestido de Vinted, zapatillas Adidas (outlet) antiguas. Bolsito cruzado de una tiendecita local.

Mixed Seasons

The weather has been wintery last weeks and I've felt still weak as a kitten (after having a pharyngitis) so I've welcomed higher temperatures and sunshine last days!. Anyway I'm (slowly) recovering and it's great not to feel that any breeze is a siberian wind that can make me cough and get hoarse. Obviously I wore my warmer scarves and even winter coats in the cold mornings, it was unseasonably windy and cold. Such a shock when I remember that we had 25ºC during many days in March!.

En las últimas semanas parecía haber vuelto el invierno y me sentía flojísima (más débil que un gatito) después de la faringitis, así que en cuanto han subido las temperaturas y el tiempo ha mejorado me he alegrado muchísimo (cosa rara). De todos modos, voy recuperándome (lentamente) y ya no siento que cada leve brisa es un viento siberiano que me produce toses y me deja afónica. Evidentemente me puse mis bufandas más gorditas e incluso abrigos de invierno en las mañanas tan frías, hemos tenido días fríos con mucho viento. ¡Es alucinante recordar que tuvimos 25ºC durante muchos días en marzo!

I was ready for a fresh start after a relaxed time on 1st of May (bank holiday!). So I picked a floral dress to cheer up my day at work!. That's a second hand dress which came from usual stalls at Sunday street market (years ago), same as the orange cardi. The wool scarf was acquired at an artisan market. Trench coat by Seasalt (old), shoes by Camper. Usual cork bag by Fine Cork Portugal. Bronze leaves earrings were retail shopped.
That's one of the pre-loved necklaces I shopped on previous week's charity market. But I removed some plastic-y fake coins which looked incongruous. Sometimes people discard items that can be easily fixed!.

Después de pasar un día festivo relajado el primero de mayo, me apetecía un nuevo comienzo, así que elegí este vestido de flores para animar el día en la oficina. Es un vestido de segunda mano que compré en los puestos del mercadillo del domingo, hace ya años, igual que la chaquetita de punto naranja. La bufandita de lana vino de un mercadillo artesano. Gabardina impermeable de Seasalt, zapatos Camper. El habitual bolso de corcho de Fine Cork Portugal. Pendientes de hojas de bronce, de tienda local.
El collar es uno de los que compré la semana anterior en un mercadillo solidario, sólo que le quité unas moneditas falsas plasticosas que quedaban raras. A veces la gente descarta y tira cosas que pueden arreglarse fácilmente.

Next day I was really happy to wear that warm coat over my summery clothes when walking to work in the early morning. I even wrapped myself in a massive scarf (shopped it retail years ago). I have same trousers in three colours, don't judge me, they're so comfy!. And I've worn a similar combo many times, so there's nothing new to show you here!, totally a repeat offender kind of outfit!. Polka dot coat was shopped retail years ago (label Sophiacurvy), trousers were shopped retail too, old striped t-shirt from CandA, ancient beach dress worn open, Adidas sneakers (outlet).

Al día siguiente por la mañana me alegré mucho de haberme puesto el abrigo calentito para ir a trabajar, hacía fresquete!. Incluso me envolví en esta bufanda-chal grande que lleva conmigo años (de lo más práctica!). Tengo estos pantalones en tres colores, no me juzguéis, son comodísimos!. Y además, me he puesto este conjunto muchas veces, no hay nada nuevo que ver aquí, es un reincidente total. Abrigo de lunares de una tienda local (marca Sophiacurvy), pantalón también de una tiendecita, camiseta de rayas viejísima del CandA, vestido de playa que llevo abierto (antigüito), zapatillas Adidas (outlet).

It was not so cold in the evenings but still uncomfortably windy. Mr.A. took that photo and also took me to the doctor on Thursday, and then we walked home (sorry, no apéro this time!). I wore some colourful clothes to make me feel better, colour therapy to the rescue!. Massive flower skirt came from Sunday street market, same as orange cardi. Scarf was a present by Mom. That puffer jacket was shopped retail. Yellow boots by Northface (outlet)

Por las tardes no hacía tanto frío, pero sí que tuvimos un viento muy molesto. Esta foto la tomó Mr.A. cuando me acompañó al médico el jueves, y luego volvimos andando a casa (y esta vez no hubo ni un pincho ni vermú ni nada). Me puse ropa que me animase, terapia de color!. La falda de la flor enorme vino del mercadillo del domingo, lo mismo que la chaquetita naranja. El pañuelo fue un regalo de mamá. Chaqueta acolchada de una tiendecita. botitas amarillas de Northface(outlet).

This is what I wore to go for a walk through the city parks near the river (no makeup, just sunscreen!). I also payed a visit to Sunday street market, where I couldn't find anything which tickled my fancy (probably not the best season at second hand stalls). So I was wearing something comfy, my own kind of athleisure, I suppose: some old pyjama-like trousers, second hand t-shirt and my puffer jacket that I shopped retail and Adidas sneakers (outlet).

Esto es lo que me puse para salir a caminar por el parque de la ribera del río (así que nada de maquillaje, sólo protección solar). También pasé por el mercadillo, pero no encontré nada que me motivase (no es la mejor temporada en los puestos de segunda mano, habrá que esperar tiempos mejores). Así que me puse algo cómodo, mi propio estilo de ropa 'deportiva', supongo: un pantalón pijamero viejo, camiseta de segunda mano y la chaqueta acolchada que compré en una tienda local, con unas zapatillas Adidas de un outlet.

More comfy clothes for another day at work this week, but going to the dark side (literally, no bad vibes!). That tunic-blouse was sewed by me years ago, and I still love its colour and cotton fabric, but it's just that quality cotton fabric which makes difficult any layering. Not the most versatile piece in my wardrobe. I've worn it with same tights and skirt (both by Snag) many times and even same matchy necklace (I can do but picking matchiness!). Trench by Seasalt. Crochet beret by myself.
Not having my usual photographer on hand, I had to take my photos by myself using my camera timer (old fashioned style) and tried different locations, including my balcony. Real life.

Más ropa comodísima para otro día en la oficina, pero esta vez me fui al lado oscuro (literalmente, ¡no me he vuelto malvada!). La túnica es de costura propia, y todavía me gusta el color y la tela de algodón pero es justamente esta tela tan buena de algodón lo que hace difícil cualquier superposición. Así que no es una prenda versátil precisamente. Me la he puesto con las mismas medias y falda (ambas de Snag) muchas veces e incluso con el mismo collar a conjunto (no puedo evitarlo). Gabardina de Seasalt. Boina de ganchillo.

Obviously, I had to stop to smell the roses (and take some photos too), even if was not wearing anything particularly glamourous, just some comfy clothes for an urban walk running errands. Claro está que tenía que detenerme para oler las rosas y tomar unas fotos también, aunque no iba especialmente glamurosa, simplemente me vestí para un paseo urbano y hacer recados. Winter & April

I've taken it easy, as I've been feeling exhausted for the last weeks, focused on recovering from my pharyngitis. Lots of people have had some kind of dreaded lurgy these days, and it takes time to fully recover!. I'm still coughing but not particularly hoarse now, after ten days of taking my medicines and speaking as little as possible. Not attending the phone at work has been a silver lining, but I've felt quite frustrated because of the lack of communication and quite sad finally. The wintery weather hasn't helped, I had to resort to warm coats and tights and knits that I had almost stored. Spring is hitting us with usual unpredictable weather, wind, cold, sun and all together again!

Me lo estoy tomando con calma, ya que me sentido cansadísima durante las últimas semanas, recuperándome de la faringitis. Hay un montón de gente que ha tenido alguna clase de resfriado o gripe estos días, y lleva tiempo recuperarse del todo. Todavía sigo tosiendo, pero ya no estoy especialmente ronca, después de diez días de tomar medicamentos y hablar lo menos posible. Ha tenido un lado bueno, que es no tener que atender el teléfono en la oficina, pero no poder hablar te acaba frustrando y afecta al estado de ánimo. Tampoco ayuda que hemos tenido un tiempo invernal, he tenido que recurrir a los abrigos gordos, las medias y esas prendas de punto que ya tenía pensado guardar. La primavera, en su línea habitual, nos sacude con un tiempo impredecible, viento, frío, luego sol y luego todo a la vez!.

Todavía no hacía tanto frío la semana pasada, cuando volví al trabajo, pero igualmente me puse varias capas para sentirme más calentita y cómoda, y mi chaqueta acolchada naranja que es abrigadita (la compré en una tienda local). Camiseta de rayas del CandA, jersey de ganchillo hecho por mí, pantalón de flores y chal de otra tienda local. Zapatillas Adidas (antiguas) y el habitual bolso de corcho de Fine Cork Portugal. El collar es de una tienda solidaria.

That's another crochet piece, recently finished, I was looking forward to wearing. I picked that vintage 80's dress in satiny blue and green to match my crochet vest-cardi, and carried on with matchy shoes (El Naturalista, I took them to the cobbler to dye in a bold blue, years ago). Estaba deseando estrenar esta última prenda de crochet que he acabado hace poco. Elegí un vestido vintage ochentero de colores azul y verde satinados, que combinan con los colores del chaleco-chaqueta de ganchillo, y continuando con la combinación, estos zapatos también en tonos similares (El Naturalista, son antiguos y los llevé al zapatero a que los tiñera en este color, hace unos años). Medias Snag. Gabardina verde de Seasalt.

I'd wear in repeat same ensemble, sans tights, as soon as possible. Matchiness makes me happy, don't judge me!

Me encantaría repetir este mismo conjunto, sin las medias, tan pronto como se pueda. Me encanta combinar los colores, no me juzguéis!

As the weather became wintery, I had to resort to warm coats (polka dot coat was acquired retail two years ago, label SophiaCurvy). I wore this geometric dress (a hand-me-down by Mom) which is perfect when I feel uninspired, it's comfy, easy to wear (pockets!) and adds some grooviness to any dull day!. Tights by Snag. Adidas sneakers (old). Massive scarf was shopped retail at Eme, years ago.

Al ponerse el tiempo cada vez más invernal, tuve que echar mano de los abrigos otra vez. El abrigo de lunares lo compré en una tienda local hace dos años (marca SophiaCurvy). Me puse también este vestido geométrico que me pasó mi madre, que es perfecto para esos días en que no sabes qué ponerte, porque es cómodo (bolsillos!) y fácil de combinar y le da un toque animado a cualquier día aburrido. Medias de Snag. Zapatillas Adidas. La bufa-manta la compré en la tienda local Eme hace unos años.

Same coat to keep me warm in another windy cold day. But I tried a different colour combo. I picked that second hand skirt (from Sunday street market), a CandA striped pullover and an ancient black waistcoat. That wool scarf was shopped at an artisan market. Pendant by Ciclón (years old). Adidas sneakers (old).

Mismo abrigo para mantener el comfort en otro día frío y ventoso. Pero intenté otra combinación de colores. La falda es de segunda mano, del mercadillo del domingo, y el jersey de rayas es del CandA, y llevo también un chaleco negro antiquísimo. La bufanda de lana la compré en un mercadillo artesano. Colgante de Ciclón (hace años). Zapatillas Adidas.

The weather has improved last days, so I wore lighter layers. Still rainy and windy, so wore my trusty Seasalt trench coat, as I had to run errands in the evening (great idea, it rained!). I picked that (second hand) pullover and my old turquoise-acqua trousers that I wear a lot of times during springtime. Shoes by Camper. Usual cork bag by Fine Cork Portugal.

El tiempo ha ido mejorando algo los últimos días, así que he ido aligerando la ropa también. Aunque sigue lluvioso y con viento, así que me puse la gabardina de Seasalt, impermeable, ya que tenía que hacer recados por la tarde (y fue buena idea, porque me cayó una chaparrada). El jersey es de segunda mano y los pantalones color turquesa-agua que son antiguos y me los pongo un montón en primavera. Zapatos de Camper. Y el habitual bolso de corcho de Fine Cork Portugal.

My repeat offender of the week was the turquoise-acqua trousers, so comfy!. I paired them with an ancient blouse and a crochet vest I made years ago and then forgot in a drawer. Not my usual attitude (I wear my clothes immediately and as many times as possible), but I have not felt like wearing it. Probably because it was not an enjoyable project, actually I quit crocheting it (or anything!), and took me years to have my crochet mojo back. However it's a lovely vest (I think) and I'll give it another chance.

Mi reincidente de la semana es el pantalón turquesa-agua, que es comodísimo. Esta vez me lo puse con una blusa antiquísima y este chaleco de ganchillo que hice hace unos años y luego metí en un cajón. No es lo que suelo hacer, soy de ponérmelo todo inmediatamente y cuanto más mejor, pero no me apetecía ponérmelo. Probablemente se deba a que no fue un proyecto de ganchillo que disfrutase especialmente, lo abandoné (en realidad, abandoné el ganchillo) y me llevó unos años volver a encontrar la inspiración para acabarlo. Sin embargo, creo que es un chaleco gracioso y tendré que darle otra oportunidad.

I couldn't volunteer at my favourite charity market, as I was still feeling tired. But I gathered my strength and payed it a visit, and acquired these pieces of (pre-loved) jewellery. Sorry that I didn't feel like rummaging a little bit, even ignored the scarves on display, that's how tired I was.

Esta vez no pude echar una mano en el mercadillo solidario al que suelo ayudar, y que está de vuelta este año, porque estaba cansadísima. Pero reuní fuerzas para una visita y compré estas bisuterías. Una lástima que no me sintiera con ganas de rebuscar un poco, incluso pasé de largo ante el expositor de los pañuelos, ¡así de cansada estaba!.
