jungle at the balcony

This jungle print dress was purchased second hand three years ago. Since then, it has been one of favourites when packing for any (summery) holiday. Actually, it ticks all the right boxes: it's totally unwrinkable, matches my shoes, it's easy to layer and makes me feel comfortable and Me. I had planned to wear it once more in our (cancelled) trip to Canary Islands too!.
But I've worn it anyway and styled it as if I was going to go outside and sit on a terrace, instead of staying at home reading a book at my balcony (and wearing a cardigan as it was not really warm!). Not very glamourous, but I've enjoyed basking in the sun (sunscreened!) and getting some vitamin D!.

  1. I love these photos of you in your fabulous dress reading on the balcony!
I'm sad that you've had to cancel your holiday to the Canaries, firstly because you're disapointed and secondly because I loved your blog posts last time. I hope you can go later in the year or in 2021!
Did you watch the TV series to go with your Dawn O'Porter book? xxx

    1. Glad you like it!, and I also hope we can go later to Lanzarote, probably we'll have to wait until winter!
And I bought this book (second hand) after watching and enjoying the tv series. Sorry there was not a second season of 'This Old Thing'!

  3. I love the photo with your feet outside and you inside!

The jungle dress is such a summery dress and I can see how useful it is. The colours and the print are fab. I have a similar dress in style but the pattern is on a cream background with a black and brown, vaguely animal print. It's too long and it's sitting and waiting to be hemmed....I'd wear a tee shirt under it too, or a jacket or cardi over it.

Keep soaking up those rays, Monica!

    1. Glad that you liked the photo, I'm keeping myself inside to avoid the (chilly) wind!
Lovely that you have a jungle dress too, I'm looking forward to see you style it!. And I agree that layering is a fabulous option to make summery dresses more versatile!

  4. That jungle print maxi is a delight. It's sad that you can't take it to the Canary Islands, though. We've had to cancel week's break to Holland, which was supposed to be this week, and we can forget about our UK holiday in June as well. But I see you're making the best of things, even if reading and basking in the sunshine on your balcony might only be a poor substitute. Well, there's always next year I suppose! Besos xxx

    1. Many holiday plans have been cancelled and many people could not get a refund, so I feel particularly lucky as we got it!. Hope you haven't forfeited any deposit . It's normal to be sad, our holiday in June was also cancelled and I'm not sure about our usual Algarvian holidays in September. Time will tell!.
I'm determined to enjoy my balcony, small as it may be!. I'm lucky to have this sunny spot!

  5. I totally understand that you love this dress! You look wonderful in it and you did it right to wear it on your balcony instead during the cancelled trip.

  6. Sometimes you have to take the holiday in your imagination instead of reality. That outfit certainly looks vacation ready!

  7. Isn't it the best when we find a dress that ticks all those boxes? I love the bold pattern on this one. I've been sitting out on my glassed in deck non-stop since I made my reading nook.

  8. Hola, me hiciste gracia con tus títulos 'turismo interior' (o cuál era? pues esa era la idea:) la misma que todos en esta época. Una curiosidad: de qué va el libro 'this old thing'? parece superinteresante!

    1. Es un libro sobre un programa de tv que se tituló en España 'Mi ropa vintage', creo que lo daban en el canal Decasa. En inglés se titulaba 'This old thing'. Un programa muy entretenido y el libro es bonito.
