Heatwave Capsule

Most of the clothes I wore last week were worn in a 'Wear-Wash-Repeat' mode. Heatwave Capsule to the rescue!. It's so hot that I run from work to home and don't even think on going out in the evenings (40-42ºC). So no social life, no walks nor running errands these days, I'm just posponing any outdoor activity until Saturday morning when I go out to get stuff done.

This is a ten years old dress, which I made a recap on (see it here on Jul21), and still a favourite as it's lightweight cotton and really comfy. I wear my straw bags to work every day and I carry a glass water bottle in the summer (and a thermo flask in the winter), a shawl and a hat. It makes my life so much easier when dressing up in the morning!. But shit happens, and I managed to break my bottle when my bag slipped from my hands and fell on our entryway marble floor. Had to vacuum the straw bag to remove the glass and then let it dry. Not the best morning ever.

- dress, Lady Vintage London (ladyvlondon) / vestido
- sandals, Raquel Pérez Shoes (old) / sandalias
- necklace, charity market (old) / collar, de mercadillo solidario
- straw bag, retail (old) / bolso de paja, de tienda local
That's another lightweight cotton dress. It was second hand purchased at eBay last year and became quickly a favourite!. Totally a 'wear, wash, repeat' kind of dress and perfect for travels as it doesn't need ironing.

- sandals, Chiruca outlet (old) / sandalias
- some silver jewellery I own ages ago / accesorios de plata de hace siglos
I wear frequently this dress, as soon as temperatures rise, it feels breezy and comfy in a hot day. It was one of the two patchwork dresses I sewed during lockdown (May2020), using leftovers, scarves and fabric from my stash.

- sandals, Skechers outlet (old) / sandalias
- hat, retail (old) / sombrero, de tienda local
- new earrings, a present by Mr.A. / pendientes nuevos, un regalo de Mr.A.
Not the most flattering outfit ever, but it was really comfortable. I think it's too casual for my usual lifestyle, and not completely happy with the sleeveless top (had to use a lot of sunscreen!) so it's not a winner.

- trousers, old and shortened / pantalón, antigüito y reformado (recortado)
- sandals, Chiruca outlet / sandalias
- necklace, charity market (old) / collar de un mercadillo solidario
I keep on visiting the street market with my friend M. almost every Sunday and sometimes we find bargains irresistible (but still trying to reduce my shopping!). I acquired these ones through last weeks but still haven't worn them.
There's a beach cover (by a Tenerife label so probably a souvenir), a linen tunic by usual C&A, a floaty dress made of a quality cotton (pockets!) and an 80's skirt which I had not got caught dead wearing back then.

Have a fabulous and slow summertime, whatever the weather!

  1. Heatwave's coming our way too, Monica, but thankfully it will only be a short one. I can't imagine having 40-42°C for weeks on end. Not wonder you aren't socializing or doing anything in particular (but work).
Cotton dresses are a godsend in these temperatures, and I'm particularly swooning over the first stripey one. Also loving the patchwork dress you sewed during lockdown, which looks like the epitome of cool, in both senses of the word.
Sorry to hear about your water bottle breaking and having to vacuum and dry out your lovely straw bag!
Great finds at the street market, my favourites being the beach cover-up and the 80s skirt! Besos xxx

  2. I am so sorry to hear about all my friends sweltering in the heat wave! I feel your pain (remember our Heat Dome last year?), and I think you are looking FABULOUS in the heat! Those dresses are all winners! I am also feeling iffy on the tank and pants, but I'd just wear them at home - I like loose pants so my legs don't stick together!

That sucks about your glass water bottle. You can get rubber covers for them here that are removeable for washing. I'm glad you were able to get all the bits out of your lovely bag!

love all the dresses - and the sewn-by-you one is extra gorgeous!
i live in flimsy shorts and a bikini top at the moment, with a beach cover at the reach if the postman rings @ home office :-D

  4. It is so hard when there's no end in sight. You're dressing wisely, and stylishly. Like you, I'm not doing much other than what absolutely must be done-I'll save social activity for winter!
I hope the heat gives you a break soon. Take care.

  5. I'm sorry to hear you have to limit your activities because of the heat but it's hard to do much in those sort of temperatures! What a shame about your water bottle.

I loved your wash, wear, repeat capsule. Cool, comfortable and beautifully co-ordinated. Your new purchases look fab; I especially liked the floaty dress - with pockets! I hope your temperatures come down soon and that you can get back to your normal life.
