red trousers & beads

These red trousers have been my last sewing project. They were wrap trousers with their lateral seams completely open, so I have dismantled them almost completely and made something different (and more wearable, as now I can sit or bend). It's nice that wrap trousers have an amazing amount of fabric!.
I've enjoyed trying on different ensembles around these trousers and finally decided that I'd prefer to wear them under this black dress (worn open), even if the smoking jacket is really appealing too. What do you think?.
Hope you're keeping yourselves safe (and as amused as possible).

I've worn another headscarf and found it quite comfy, once I secured it with some hairpins.
This black dress was worn here properly done up. I recommend this kind of (second hand) classic dresses, they work nicely as summer coats too!.

- striped t-shirt, C&A (old) / camiseta de rayas
- beads, a present / collar de bolas, un regalo
- sandals, Chiruca outlet / sandalias
- headscarf, a hand-me-down / pañuelo, me lo pasó una amiga
- bracelets, some revamped, some from charities, some bought ages ago / pulseras, algunos de segunda mano, otros antigüitos o arreglados por mí.
- smoking jacket, 80's homegrown vintage from my mom's store room / kimono, de los 80 del trastero de mi madre

  1. While your smoking jacket remains an absolute stunner, I am very much in love with the first outfit you created. The trousers are brilliant, and they look totally gorgeous as part of your black and red colour scheme, paired with with the dress worn open. The mix of stripes and polka dots provided by your top and hair scarf, is fabulous too! It's good to see you have plenty to occupy yourself with in these trying times. Stay safe, my lovely friend. 3. I like the open black dress the best with the fab red pants. I don't think the colour of the smoking jacket is as striking as the black one. I am loving your headscarves! And sandals? It's still too cold here for sandals, unfortunately.

    Stay safe and well.

    1. Yes, I've worn these sandals as temperatures were around 20ºC some days ago and I was in the sun in our balcony. It was really delightful but didn't last for a long time.
      Now it's snowing/sleeting! ;DDD

  4. I like the idea of wearing the dress open as a long jacket over the pants. I think everyone needs a pair of red pants in their wardrobe.

  5. What an amazing job you did on those trousers! They look fabulous on you. Ah, anchoring the headscarf with pins, that makes sense. I love the polka dot fabric on that one! I have done a dress worn open as a coat before - it's a great way to get a different look out of a single garment.

Hope you are doing well, and staying safe!

And yes, pins make a difference!, and vintage neckerchieves rock!
I'm a huge fan of long floaty outerwear (Darth Sheila's style!), I think you look fab in your long cardis, vests, summercoats...

  7. I like them both ways - the version with the dress looks like daywear, whereas with the smoking jacket it's definitely more decadent, more eveningwear.
