Rain & Winter

Business as usual, so I'm posting some pictures of what I wore last week, which enables me to have a look at the week and make a recap. Blogs are really useful to keep track of your quotidian life (and outfits!).
It rained every weekday and we had also that distinctive wind when there's snow on the mountains around. So my outfits were all about boots, coats and umbrellas. But I didn't let it sink me, so my outfits were also all around accessorizing, matchiness and some colourful makeup. I'm giving eyeshadows a try, even if I'm not particularly skilled.

Last Sunday it was still sunny, but I got ready for the forecasted weather so I unearthed some of my winter dresses. This watercolour print in blues and greys looked appropriate, so I wore it three times in a row. Not a bad performance for a dress that was nearly into my last donation bag, being rescued in the very last moment. Still not completely sure about keeping it as I wear it once a year (or less).
Dress shopped retail ages ago, puff coat by La Redoute (years old), sneakers by Nike outlet (old), grey tights by Calzedonia and bag by Eme (old). Nothing new to show!

Monday was the first rainy day of many others (we had also some sleet and hail, for a change!). I had an appointment with my podologist and also took some bed covers to a launderette (as it's impossible to air dry them!). At least I enjoyed an interesting conversation (about travels and food and gentrification) with my podologist, so my medical appointment was pretty relaxed. And my bed covers are now ready for any visitor to come.
Same dress as before, same grey cardigan shopped retail fifteen years ago. But I wore wool tights and my trusty Chiruca sneakers (waterproof!). It's easy to wear same dress again and again, only changing your long sleeved turtleneck and tights.

We had another appointement on Tuesday, this time at our bank office, to get some information about our morgage. Less dramatic news than expected, so we went home feeling relief (not only because of the low temperatures outdoors!). My life is wildly interesting, isn't it? ;DD
This is one of my favourite rainproof outfits ever, and I've worn it a lot of rainy days. Dress was acquired at eBay (pre-loved) years ago, fleece jacket by CandA, trusty Seasalt coat, boots by Treksta (old), scarf and gloves shopped retail (separately, even if they look like a set!)

Have you seen 'Wednesday' series?. I found it really entertaining and delightfully black humoured, and loved particularly the costumes, all of them!. My own Wednesday was another wildly interesting day, as we drived to the supermarket (actually Mr.A. did, I can't drive to save my life) to buy some basics.
Same dress as before, a different pair of waterproof boots (DrMartens, old) and a different coat, for a change. Three times in a row and no fashion police has been alerted!

Recap: Feb2018 and Nov2019 / Nov2013, Mar2012, Jul2012, Oct2011
I kept this dress for Thursday as it was supposed to be the coldest day of the week. And it was!. This dress by Praslin was shopped ages ago, and it's really warm (thick polyester!) so I tend to reserve it for Real Winter Weather. As I did in Dic2021. I just wore this to work, and then stayed at home in my loungewear for the rest of the day.

Friday was a busy day, both at work and at home!. I found the perfect size cupboard to fit in our kitchen, in a second-hand website. So we had to drive to meet the owner and pick a massive box, as the cupboard was brand new, still in its packaging (something about a mistaken online purchase). The owner was very kind and gave us a hand to accomodate it in our car. Once at home, we decided to assemble it immediately, which took us two hours, and amazingly we didn't discuss nor make any mistake. Then I bake a cake, cooked our dinner and collapsed on bed!

Sunny spells on Friday!, it was another freezy day anyway. I wore my pre-loved shearling coat (Asos Marketplace boutique Bich), and another thick polyester dress, a tartan one that I shopped retail years ago. Tights by Snag, shoes by Camper. Yellow cardi from eBay (ages ago) and crochet wristwarmers and hat. Scarf was recently shopped retail at Eme, a local business. Cork bag by Fine Cork Portugal.

Have a fabulous week!

  2. There's nothing wrong with wearing a dress three times in one week, and it's certainly not a bad thing for a dress you're not sure about. I love its pattern but, like Beate, I'm hearing you on why it was in that donation bag in the first place. It's too good not to rethink it, in my opinion.
My favourite outfit is the final one, which is an absolute joy to look at in every way: the tartan dress, snag tights, scarf and necklace are to die for.
Oh, and I don't drive either. That actually makes at least three of us (Vix doesn't either) or perhaps four, as I'm not sure about Sheila. Such a relief not to be the only one, as people tend to think you're a freak if you tell them you don't drive :-) Mil besos xxx

  3. I love that you wore that dress so many times - I didn't even recognize it on the last wearing! Well done! Why wait months to wear it again, especially if you're evaluating whether it's a keeper or not. I love the black outfit with the turquoise shoes the most - I have Wednesday on my to-watch list for when I have some time to myself to binge-watch it! I love any show with good costumes! Your polka dot ensemble also sings for me. Well done on the make-up/shadow! I really like pink and orange eyeshadow - it's very flattering! Way to be bold, darling!

  4. What a wonderful dress! I love the abstract pattern, the colours and how you've accessorised it. No wonder you wore it so frequently. Loved all the outfits; they all look fabulous and beautifully coordinated with your accessories and layers. I was glad to see the lovely shearling coat again but it must have been a very cold day that day! The eye- shadow looks great - it's good to experiment!

  5. Yay - I love that there's a gang of bloggers who don't drive, my friends in real life mostly do (except for Nikki)!
That was a fantastic read, I really enjoyed reading about your everyday life - what seems mundane to ourselves is so interesting when it happens to someone else like buying a secondhand cupboard!
The dress was well worth the rescue, it looks different in every incarnation. I keep meaning to do something similar and see how many combinations I can come up with, it's great fun challenging yourself with clothes. xxx
