more summer walks

We're keeping a quiet lifestyle, only running errands when necessary, but still enjoying some long walks. As walking is not so popular anymore (probably because bars and terraces are open!) we can go for a walk trough our favourite paths with plenty of tranquility. The cycling fever is also diminishing (not good news, even if it means that we pedestrians can walk airily and worry-free).
This is what I wore last week for a short walk in a rainy day.

- orange trench, La Redoute (old) / gabardina naranja
- trousers, sewed by me (old) / pantalón, hechos por mí, hace tiempo
- t-shirt, very old / camiseta, antigüita
- sneakers, Reebok outlet / zapatillas
- bag and mask by Nonapapallona / bolsito y mascarilla, de Nonapapallona

Another simple dinner cooked from scratch, except the mussels which are sold already steamed. I had cooked a pot of tomato sauce (garlic and peppers included), so had to make a main course to use it. I wanted to use some courgettes too, as we have plenty of them now. So I made these courgette tagliatelle using a peeler (no special machines!) and sautéed them in a pan for 2min. However, the soft seeded core can't be sliced with a peeler, so I just cut it with a knife as usual. These round slices were sautéed first as they take more time to cook. My first time cooking courgettes this way and I totally recommend it!

I wore my recently acquired (second hand) red blouse to visit my friend M-. We met at a lonely terrace and kept our distance, but anyway we managed to have a nice time and lots of chatting!.
Finally, I shortened the sleeves of this blouse and I'm quite pleased with it. In case of doubt wear Red!.

- trousers, clearance sale (also shortened!) / pantalones, de una liquidación (también los recorté)
- bag, Matties (retail), old / bolso
- necklace, charity market (years ago) / collar, de un mercadillo solidario, hace años
- sandals, Chiruca outlet / sandalias
- bracelet, Sfera (old) / pulsera

Back to business as usual!. This is a path which goes nearby the river and has a picturesque untidy aspect (that I prefer!). I look quite surprised in the photo, but I was not!. Have you noticed how difficult is to read the facial expressions when everybody is wearing a mask?!.

This is a peaches box bought from the producer (and some veggies too!). We also bought some figs, which are in their high season now (and it's a short one, so carpe diem!).

  1. I particularly like that La Redoute mac, your handmade trousers, how the red top looks with the shortened sleeves and the denim jacket!
I'm glad to hear that you were able to meet up with friends and that going for a walk isn't as fraught with hazard now that the pubs are open. We're rethinking the outdoor entertaining space at the moment, as it doesn't look like we'll be having guests in our house for a long time yet.
I love courgettes and keep checking our crop so I can add them to our meals. That array of fresh fruit is making my mouth water.
    Stay safe! xxx

  2. Meeting friends even at a distance must feel wonderful. I've noticed the funny expressions on everyone wearing masks-you're not alone!
I made courgettes in a similar manner and the boys loved it. Interesting how a change of shape can alter the impression of a vegetable. I've never had shellfish, but they look beautiful like something out of a still life.

  3. I've been working on my "smize" (smiling with your eyes - thank you, Tyra Banks from America's Next Top Model), and squinting up my eyes when I'm smiling while wearing a mask. Your mask game in these outfits is stellar, by the way!

I love all your colour - the orange coat is magnificent, the red top is amazing (hooray for red, I agree!), and I love the stained glass looking trousers. I read that Spain's COVID numbers have been climbing again - stay safe! It's the others you have to worry about..sigh.

  4. It is wonderful to walk on that tree-lined avenue! ..and what good fruit! Here too we have those little mashed peaches. They are typical of Etna. I really like your blue and red pairing! Have a good weekend!

  6. It's great to hear that once again you can walk your favourite paths! Loving that gorgeous red mac you wore for your rainy walk and your handmade floral trousers are fabulous too. I love the way you cooked those courgettes, it looks utterly delicious. I love the red and blue outfit you wore to meet your friend too - isn't it wonderful to meet friends, even at the required social distance! It is indeed hard to read someone's facial expression when wearing a mask. I keep smiling at people, but I'm not always sure they notice and whether they smile back at me! Besos xxx

  7. Oh what beautiful fruit! Definitely seize them while you can. And those mussels look tasty too - I've never tried them that way.

  8. OOooo, those peaches and figs look delicious! I have only seen those type of peaches in an Asian supermarket over here, where they are called "Donut Peaches" (I guess because of their shape?).

It is very hard to read people's facial expressions when you only have their eyes to go on. Like Sheila mentioned, I have had to practice "Smizing" (smile with your eyes) when I see people I know on the bus or in the street.
