welcome to my real life

We've been very lucky and the forecasted rain (hurricane category!) was only a shower or two, but other regions have been affected by floods. Weather is becoming not only unpredictable or unseasonable, but also hazardous. Wish you're safe and well!
Obviously, my life goes on as usual. And this is what I wore to go out to buy groceries and pay another visit to the books fair. My tweed jacket came from a charity shop and it's part of a suit (pristine condition) which costed 12€. Unfortunately, the skirt doesn't fit me properly and it's going to take some work to make it wearable, but I haven't given up!. I have to unsew the lining and have a look at seams, but I really hope that some hem allowance was included, as it's a quality piece. Another one to my sewing pile!
And it still amazes me that sizes are such a crazy thing!

Hemos sido afortunados por aquí, porque la amenaza de lluvias torrenciales categoría huracán se quedó en un par de chaparrones, pero en otras regiones sí que está habiendo inundaciones. El clima ya no es que sea extraño para la época del año, es que nos pone en peligro. Espero que todos estéis bien!
Evidentemente la vida sigue y esto es lo que me puse para ir a hacer la compra y hacerle otra visita a la feria del libro usado. Esta chaqueta jaspeada tipo tweed vino de una tienda solidaria y es parte de un traje, que estaba impecable y me costó 12€. Desafortunadamente, la falda no me entra y me llevará trabajo hacer algo con ella, pero no me rindo. Tengo que descoser el forro y echarle un vistazo a las costuras, pero espero que haya un poquito de margen para sacar, porque es una prenda de cierta calidad. Otro trabajito más que añadir a mis proyectos de costura.
Y me sigue asombrando que las tallas sean una cosa tan loca!

weekend in the (small) city

Autumn is here to stay and this means beautiful colors and wine harvest in the countryside and some secondhand fairs and street markets in our small city. This weekend we've stayed at home and visited the second hand books fair on Saturday. Weather was warm enough to wear a pair of closed toe sandals (and no jacket), so we enjoyed a nice walk and ran errands.
Though Sunday was rainy, we took our umbrellas and went for a walk too. I think this has been my last day going out barelegged, as weather has got colder!. I don't feel particularly happy about this!.
I'm becoming a huge fan of sneakers even with dresses which was something that horrified me a few years ago! You know, style evolves!

El otoño ha llegado para quedarse y eso significa que en el campo ya hay bonitos colores y la vendimia, mientras aquí en esta ciudad, hay varios mercadillos y ferias de segunda mano. Este fin de semana nos hemos quedado en casa y el sábado hemos salido a ver la feria del libro usado, disfrutando de un tiempo bastante bueno, que todavía permitía llevar zapatos abiertos e ir sin chaqueta, así que estaba agradable para pasear y hacer unos recados.
En cambio el domingo estuvo lloviendo, pero igualmente fuimos a dar una vuelta paraguas en mano. Creo que este va a ser el último día que salga por ahí sin medias, hace ya frío!. Y no es algo que me haga particularmente feliz!
Me he vuelto muy aficionada a las zapatillas deportivas (ya sabéis, problemas de tobillo), incluso me parecen bien con vestidos que es algo que me horrorizaba hace bien poco. Ya sabéis, el estilo evoluciona!

blue & turquoise #2

It looks like it has been some kind of theme in my outfits this week!. I've worn a similar color combo almost everyday, lots of turquoise and blue, pants and sneakers. This is what I've worn to pay a visit to my doctor (my ankles are doing it well!) and then have a beer with Mr.A. to celebrate it!
Weather is still quite warm in the midday sun, but chilly in the mornings when I go out (before dawn, actually). I have to wear a winter jacket or cardi, which have to be packed in my bag when I come back home and it's 25ºC/77ºF. Intermediate seasons are so much fun (irony!)

Parece que esta semana he estado repitiendo el mismo tema, con combinaciones de color muy parecidas, turquesas y azules, pantalón y zapatillas. Esto es lo que llevaba para una visita al médico (buenas noticias, mis tobillos se están portando mejor) y luego tomar una cervecita con Mr.A. para celebrarlo!
El tiempo es todavía bastante bueno por la tarde al sol, pero hace fresco por las mañanas cuando yo salgo (es de noche, en realidad). He tenido que ponerme chaquetas de invierno, que luego tengo que guardar en mi bolso a la hora de volver a casa, cuando hay 25ºC. Estas épocas de entretiempo son así de divertidas! (ironía)

blue & turquoise

Recently colder temperatures have dissuaded me from wearing sandals or going bare-legged in skirts, so I've been wearing pants, particularly blue and turquoise pants with my blue and turquoise sneakers. It's something really comfortable for my lifestyle which includes some office work, walking, running errands and probably having some social life too. My ankles are behaving nicely lately!
I still don't feel involved in the autumnal season and prefer to keep things in the summery side as much as possible. I'm doing some minor adjustments in my wardrobe so I could postpone the switch between seasons. I do a massive switch twice a year, but I also do some 'gradual transitions' into Spring and Autumn. I even have some specific clothes for these intermediate seasons!.

Últimamente, las temperaturas más frescas me han echado para atrás a la hora de ponerme sandalias o llevar las piernas al aire, así que he preferido ponerme más pantalones, concretamente pantalones azules y turquesa con mis zapatillas azules y turquesa. Resulta muy cómodo para mi estilo de vida, que generalmente incluye trabajo de oficina, ir andando a todas partes, hacer recados y también un poco de vida social, probablemente. Mis problemas de tobillo están dejándome en paz!
Todavía no me siento muy metida de lleno en el otoño y prefiero quedarme un poco más en modo veraniego, mientras pueda. Intentaré hacer unos ajustes en mi vestuario, para poder retrasar el cambio grande dentro del armario. Suelo hacer un cambio grande de ropa dos veces por año, sacando todo lo de verano y guardando lo de invierno, pero también hago algunos cambios pequeños para ajustarme a las temporadas de entretiempo. Incluso tengo ropa que sólo saco para entretiempo!
¿Cómo lleváis este asunto del cambio de estación y reencontrarse con el vestuario de invierno, lleno de tesoros por descubrir y reinventar?
