August HeatWave

We were having a quite 'normal' summer in the north of Spain (the south is a different story). But finally we've been hitted by a heatwave, even if only in August and not a lot of them since May as it happened last year, which is a kind of relief (or it will be once the temperature decreases). After days and days at 39ºC- 40ºC, I'm not feeling my best, and my Heatwave Capsule looks a little bit exhausted (I've been wearing same clothes in a 'wear, wash, repeat' mode for a week).

I've worn this ensemble previously, and will repeat it as soon as possible. Really comfortable even in a heatwave, breathable and floaty!. I don't care too much about wrinkled linen these days, it's too hot!. Secondhand linen tunic (dyed in a rusty-orange), trousers by PuntRoma, sandals by Skechers (old) and a small cork bag by Fine Cork Portugal which I don't wear as frequently as it deserves.

That's me going for a walk in the early morning (Sunday!), sunscreened and wearing a hat. Because I can't go for a walk during the week (too hot in the evenings!), so I have to make the most of weekends.
That blouse was custom made at a local business years ago, second hand trousers, sneakers by elémenterre (old), bag by Eme.

Heatwave Capsule to the rescue!. I shopped that dress at eBay years ago and it has become a real workhorse, and it's made of cotton gauze and doesn't need ironing!. Still going strong.
I asked Mr.A. to take my photo at the balcony, under our new awning which makes possible to stay outside in the early morning. It makes a difference, the temperature is bearable inside too!. As you can see, my balcony pots are looking quite 'arid'. Only the aloe vera plants survive (and they even thrive and propagate by themselves madly) after the last plague killed my geraniums.

I've been measuring and creating a pattern from this skirt, which is made of stripes of different fabrics. I plan to use some old trousers to create another patchwork skirt!. Probably I'm too ambitious, but I like to challenge myself

Have a fabulous week!

but your hot weather capsule is so very fabulous - no reason to complain ;-D its hot here too (30°C and humid) and i´m happy that i work mostly at home so i can wear a bikini-top and skimpy shorts only...... just pulling over a light blouse for welcoming the guests at the airb&b :-D

  3. I don't envy you your heatwave! We've got temperatures in the high twenties right now, and both Jos and me are already suffering from it. The older I get, the less heatwave resistant I seem to get :-)
Your heatwave capsule is coming up trumps, though: your outfits are both comfortable and fabulous, which is the way to go. You are definitely rocking the cropped trousers and tunic formula, and that dress is an absolute delight!
The awning is a great idea, but oh your poor geraniums! Mine were looking quite dishevelled when we came back from holiday, but they recovered after lots of TLC. Besos xxx

  4. Oh, those temperatures sound unbearable! But you look very cool and so chic. I love your heat wave capsule outfits. I'm excited to see what wonderful item you produce from that amazing striped material. Hope to see you wearing it soon! Sorry to hear that you lost all your geraniums to the 'plague'....

  5. I'd kill for those temperatures, I was born in the wrong country!
I love your capsule wardrobe, that red cotton dress is particularly pretty and all the better for not needing ironing.
The new skirt is looking gorgeous, I can't wait to see it completed.
I'm sad about your geraniums and I hope the new awning protects both of you and your patio plants in the future. xxx
