colourful autumn

We're still having some warm temperatures (despite the usual 20ºC thermal oscillation in a few hours). Everybody is feeling the urge to make the most of the last sunny days. Hurry up before rainy and foggy november comes!
The warm weather is one of the reasons why I like autumn so much, but I also enjoy the rich colours, the delicious fruits and veggies and the smell of the roasted peppers as many people are making preserves, typically Piquillo peppers. The country looks particularly beautiful after the winegrapes harvest, lots of deep oranges and reds and yellows (see some photos here). I think it's really inspiring and I tend to repeat these colours every autumn.

This skirt was another second hand piece that I found at Sunday street market. It was buried in a mountain of aprons but I could see its colours from the distance and then found that it was a wrap around skirt (never leave any stone unturned!). Not the best quality item, their seams were not properly overlocked, and it looks like something made of leftovers of indian cotton prints. But I immediately paid the whole 1€ and took it home!. Probably I'll store it until spring, but couldn't resist to give it a try (or two).

  2. I agree on the mood-lifting properties of Autumn colours, and on taking inspiration from nature, especially at this time of year. The € 1 was great find, in spite of its shortcomings. I would definitely have picked it up too! I love both ways you styled it, with the second one being my favourite. It looks absolutely fabulous with those purple tights and orange cardigan and raincoat. The necklace worn with your first and last outfit is fantastic, and I agree with Vronni, as I too think I need one of those chunky yellow cardigans in my life! Enjoy your weekend, Monica, we too are having a bank holiday on Monday :-) Besos xxx
