mixed colours

No interesting news to tell these days, except that our local lockdown ended so some cafés and terraces have opened and most people are totally mesmerized by christmas lights and the prospect of a shopping frenzy. Which is just nonsense, but all I can do is keep myself as safe as possible and avoid the city centre.
It's chilly in the mornings (2ºC / 35ºF) so I've had to look for my winter coats. This shearling coat was a second hand purchase, really comfy even if it weighs a ton (as this kind of coats usually do) but it also adds lots of attitude, so I'm ok with this.
This lightweight pullover was also acquired second hand, at Sunday street market. Not the most sensible purchase, as its seams were partially unstitched and its lenght was not suitable for me. I've also considered that its boxy shape doesn't flatter me. Anyway, I was appealed by its hand-made charm and beautiful colours.
Actually, I don't recommend to cut a knit piece unless you're really skilled and/or have an overlocker. But this piece was cheap as chips so I thought on shorten it and create a crochet hem by myself. Even if the result has been acceptable (a little bit wavy) I continue recommending not to cut knit fabric and I'll keep my own advice for future reference. These are the adventures of the second hand shopper!

- skirt, homegrown vintage (acquired more than 30 years ago) / falda, vintage casero, la tengo hace más de 30 años
- necklace, a present by Veronica / collar, un regalo de Veronica
- shearling coat, second hand, Asos Marketplace boutique Bich / abrigo de piel vuelta, de segunda mano, de Asos Marketplace boutique Bich
- crochet beret and scarf / boina y bufandita de ganchillo
- sneakers, Chiruca outlet (old) / zapatillas

This is another simple plate we had for dinner: roasted vegetables and cherry tomatoes on a flatbread/tortilla with mustard and goat cheese. Easy and Tasty!

Wish you a fabulous and safe week!

  1. I saw the mass of shopping crowds in the news but knew you would not be among them. What utter madness. I'm glad you're staying safe. Beautiful outfit as always!

    1. You're welcome to stay for dinner (or tea, or whatever!) ;DD
It's amazing that people queue outside Primark, as if they were running short of cheap poor quality clothes.

  5. I'm like you and I'm keeping well away from the shopping frenzy which seems to be going on now that our non-essential shops have re-opened yesterday. Unfortunately I had to go into the office today, but I was able to avoid most of the crowd, as luckily I don't have to walk through Antwerp's main shopping street. It's also getting colder here, so I've been unearthing some of my warmer coats too. It's good to see that magnificent shearling coat is still going strong! I'm loving the boho vibes of your maxi skirt, and I would never have guessed that you shortened that jumper and added a crochet hem. It looks perfectly natural to me. I would never attempt a thing like that, but you really managed to pull it off.
Your "simple" plate is looking delicious, you certainly know how to eat well! And is that your famous non-alcoholic beer I'm spying? xxx

    1. Glad to know that you don't have to brave the crowds to go to work. It's really annoying!
And so lovely that you like my coat, a real compliment coming from somebody whose coats collection I admire!
Shortening a jumper is something that I'd never attempted, I'll take it to a professional!
Glad that you recognised the non-alcoholic Alhambra beer, a favourite of us!

  6. I like the colourful pattern mix in this outfit. I used to have a short shearling coat that was toasty warm, but very heavy. Most coats from the 80's and earlier were so heavy, compared to the lightweight down coats made today. I used to have a couple of men's wool coats when I was in my 20's and while they were definitely warm, they weighed so much that I finally gave them away.

    1. Shearling coats have been a constant presence in my wardrobe since 80's, and I have to recognise that some of them were uncomfortably heavy and I let them go. And I love a lightweight down coat when it's really cold and I have to go out and walk for a long time. There's nothing better than comfort!

  7. I'm trying to do my Christmas shopping on "off" days - the crowds are a bit much on the weekends. I'm glad to hear that your lockdown has ended - ours was just extended to Jan 8th, and we are not allowed to do any kind of social gatherings.

Love your striped sweater and skirt - so matchy! - and that shearling coat is AMAZING!
