autumn blues

Finally I found time to do some sewing and this skirt was at the top of my pile. Fortunatly I didn't have to unsew the zip, which was perfect, only had to stretch it in the middle (hips!) and it had enough hem allowance to do it (I love a good quality piece!). I also shortened it because the lenght was not flattering on me. This is a really easy sewing but it makes such a difference!.
This skirt is part of a suit that I bought at a charity shop and its jacket has had a lot of success since then, I've worn it at least once every week and received some compliments. Tweed is great for our unpredictable weather!
Linking Visible Monday and hope that you're having a visible week!

  1. You did a great job with the skirt, it's a perfect fit and anything that doesn't requite changing the zip gets a massive thumbs up from me! xxx

  3. The typewriter brooch is exquisite!

I love your tweed skirt - what a useful piece it will be. I also love your tweed jacket. Will you wear the two pieces as a suit do you think or is it a bit too formal for you? As separates it's wonderful, too!

Good luck with your sewing pile...

Like Suzanne and Veronica, I adore the little typewriter brooch. I just have to comment on it every time I spot it on your blog! Besos xxx

  7. Things like extra seam allowance, and hems - you just don't see that in clothes anymore, and what a shame that is. What a great piece the skirt is, really a classic. Looking lovely, my dear!
