Warm November

The weather keeps being an interesting theme of conversation, as many people are commenting it's shocking that neither rain nor sleet or snow have made appeareance in November. We live in a mild climate region, but not so mild!. Actually, there's a feeling of unreality around this strange weather. If we had a hell-like summer that looked apocalyptical, now this mild autumn looks more like a fantasy backdrop (something that is not going to kill you, but disturbing indeed).
Anyway, I like to keep it real, so this is what I wore last week, mostly outfits to go to work. It looks like there's a theme being developed here, as I wore striped bottoms and orange colour twice. Actually, it was not intentional!.

This skirt was one of the first ones I sewed, a decade ago, so it's totally a classic in my wardrobe. I even made a flashback about it. I wore it last year almost identically, with same black cardi by PuntRoma (old) and same (second hand) CandA shirt, even same tights by Snag. This coat is new and was acquired at a clearance sale in July. Sneakers by Adidas outlet. Cork bag by Fine Cork Portugal. Shawl retail.

This Zara orange top came from a second hand stall in the Sunday street market, and then was fitted and shortened (I gave it the full treatment!). Trousers purchased at a clearance sale-outlet. Sneakers by Reebok outlet. Necklace was a present by Mom. Block printed scarf, retail. Coat was acquired new at a retail shop, the label is Sophia Curvy.

We are determined to make the most of this unseasonable mild weather, so went for a visit to Alfaro, a nearby town that we've never visited before. We moved here a decade ago and there are still lots of interesting places to discover.

As a curiosity, this church is a Colegiata not a Cathedral even if it's the largest church in the region. Massive brick buildings are typical and really picturesque, so I got a little bit enthusiastic and took photos of architectural details. There are some ongoing restoration projects, and the local tourism office's employees were really kind and felt sorry that guided tours were not available this season (only by appointment). They showed us some educational models about the animals, particularly birds, that can be watched in the nearby natural reserve, and now we are really interested in some guided walks (soon!).

This is a comfy outfit that I wore to do the groceries shopping on Saturday morning, it was a sunny morning even if chilly. Purple coat was acquired second hand at eBay (years ago). Vintage shirt, crochet cardi-thing by me and some old sneakers (Adidas outlet). The scarf came from a flea market. Earrings from Eme local business!. Brooch was a present by Sacramento, she's so talented and a superstar!.

Sunrise on Monday morning was particularly amazing and I took a photo and watched it meanwhile having breakfast. Soon I will go to work before dawn, as days are shorter and shorter, so no more early morning photos until spring!

  1. We've had some rainy days, but mostly it has been sunny and unseasonably warm here as well, which indeed feels rather unreal and slightly disturbing.
I absolutely love your orange made-by-you skirt, and I love the playful addition of the striped tights.
The striped trousers and dotted coat of your second outfit is a delightful combo as well. Well done for remaking that orange Zara top!
Alfara looks gorgeous and well worth a visit. Lucky you living close to such beauty! Also love the photo of you and Mr. Allnut at the tourist office.
Your colourful grocery shopping outfit is right up my street as well. Pink, purple, stripes and vintage patterns: what's not to love!
Finally, the photo of Monday's sunrise is stunning! You're right, the dark days are upon us, those in which we leave the house in the dark and come back home in the dark too :-( Besos xxx

  2. That sunrise is sensationally beautiful! We've had unseasonably mild weather for days but we've been warned that its getting colder. It's spookily foggy this morning!
I absolutely loved joining you for a walk around town, I've been on a few guided walks in India and love being shown all the tiny details of architectural interest I may have missed. The photo of you and Sr A is fabulous.
Your outfits are amazing, I love the punk rock look with the orange skirt, the striped pants and striped peplum tee and, of course, that super cool polka dots on speed puffer coat. xxx

  4. What a stunning sunrise! And a beautiful photo.

Fabulous outfits. The striped trousers are brilliant and go with everything and look great with whatever you add to them. The orange decade old skirt is such a fabulous print and looks amazing on. You have bought some amazing coats; I adore the spotty one and new black coat is so very elegant on you.

I'm so glad you got to visit a new to you town. The buildings were wonderful; the 'not a cathedral' magnificent and I loved the louvred doors with the tiny balconies; there's something so romantic about balconies - it must be the association with Romeo and Juliet...I think.

I hope your week is going well. We have finally entered into the right weather for the time of the year - at last!

  5. Wow, that's an amazing sunrise! We're having an unseasonably cold autumn here - well, it was lovely and still summery right up to late October and then it was like a curtain dropping - WINTER. It's usually 10+ degrees warmer this time of year. Thank goodness we only have had the one snowfall!

I love your outfits - so fun, and ever so slightly goth, which you know I love! Hooray for stripes and black and white.

Lovely pictures - the architecture is amazing!
