kitschy dress & fun factor

This is the first time I've taken pictures of my 'kitschy dress'. It's a dress I've sewn, as a 'guinea pig experiment' where I practise my skills before sewing the real thing. But I've decided to give it a try and wear it to go for a walk. Mr.A. has strongly disliked this dress (I think it's the one and only outfit of mine he has disliked ever). Even if I'm predisposed to look favourably on my dress, I think it's a Frankenstein kind of creature, kitschy and gaudy. Anyway, I've worn it for fun, and it worked as an inspiration to change my (bad) mood, to feel encouraged to wear more unexpected and crazy clothes. I really believe that fashion should be fun, even a faux pas!

  5. I think the best thing anyone can be is you and be happy about it. And it's quite encouraging to see an unapologetic person in her fashion style faux pas or no and still be great & confident about it. Thank you and this encourages me so much

  7. You make trial dresses????? I bow down, and with so much embellishment. Man!
Anyway this is totally not a practice Frankenstein dress. It is a work of wonder. I would be happy to own it. All those plaids working together, is such a playful happy piece.
I'm glad you didn't let others' opinions carry the day. I also love your styling.

  9. I think it's a great dress - it's a cool mix of colours and patterns. Did Mr. A. say why he doesn't like it?

  10. YAY! What a wonderful dress, I am amazed at your sewing skills, my dear Monica! I am sure you will find more fun ways to style it and wear it often - it is such a unique, individual piece of clothing! I agree, it should be fun, playful, humorous even - I am moving that direction myself, in some ways. Lots of love!
