A Pinch of Winter

My last post was so hurried that I even forgot to translate it into spanish (which have been mentioned by some of my few spanish readers, including Mr.A.'s Mom). Lesson learned!, I'll take my time (and effort) to be coherent!
Back to business (and outfits), that's what I wore a fortnight ago, when Winter made an entrance. So we had freezing temperatures in the mornings for some days, Real Winter Weather! (it usually lasted months). Lots of knits and warm coats, but I tried to keep it colourful.

Mi última entrada la hice tan aprisa que me salté el traducirla y no había texto en español (lo que me han reprochado algunos de mis escasos lectores en español, incluyendo a la mamá de Mr.A.). Lección aprendida y me pondré las pilas, me tomaré el tiempo (y dedicación) necesarias para que salga algo medio coherente!.
De vuelta a la vida cotidiana (y a los trapos!), esto es lo que me he estado poniendo los últimos quince días, considerando que hace justo dos semanas tuvimos unos días de invierno de verdad, con heladas mañaneras y todo (un tiempo que normalmente duraría unos meses y no una semanita). Así que bienvenidos los abrigos gruesos y el punto gordo!

That teal knit dress is one of my winter favourites, so comfy!. We had some crispy cold days and I wore my polka dot coat everyday! (it was shopped retail years ago, label Sophiacurvy). Teal dress by Asos (a decade ago). Thermal tights. Boots by NorthFace (outlet). Yellow cardi was acquired second hand (eBay) ages ago. Striped t-shirt by CandA (old). Scarf was a present by Mom.
Este vestido color azul celadón es uno de mis favoritos de invierno, cómodo y fácil de llevar. Como tuvimos unos días de frío y viento (a pesar del sol) me puse este abrigo de lunares cada día, es muy agradable (lo compré en una tienda local hace ya dos años, la marca es Sophiacurvy). El vestido es de Asos (de hace una década o así). Medias gorditas. Botas de NorthFace (outlet). Chaquetita amarilla de segunda mano de eBay, hace siglos. Camiseta de rayas del CandA. El pañuelo fue un regalo de mi madre.

It was difficult to take photos outdoors because of the wind, but I persevered with mirror selfies (we have that massive mirror in our building hall). As Mr.A. is not available to take my photos in the mornings (new timetable!), I take them myself with my camera timer, but that's not always possible!.
Another heavy-knit dress that I wore in another cold windy day to work. I acquired those dresses a decade ago (fast fashion made slow) and they still look good enough in my book. If our winters keep on shortening, my knit dresses could last forever!.

Por culpa del viento se ha vuelto difícil tomar fotos fuera, pero al menos he seguido con mis fotos en el espejo, aprovechando que tenemos uno enorme en el portal. Como Mr.A. no está disponible como fotógrafo por su nuevo horario, tengo que arreglarme yo misma con el temporizador de la cámara, pero a veces es imposible y me hago una foto con el móvil.
Este es otro vestido de tejido de punto muy abrigado, para otro día de frío y viento. Estos vestidos los tengo desde hace unos diez años (haciendo durar la fast fashion!) y todavía se ven bastante bien, en mi opinión. Si los inviernos siguen acortándose así, me pueden durar para siempre!.

Y este es mi último momento plenamente invernal, con el mismo abrigo de lunares. El falso vestido es una prenda de segunda mano que reformé. Bufanda antigüita. Botitas Treksta. Chaqueta ganchillo rosa.

We had a lovely sunny weekend and we joined Mr.A's family to celebrate his dad's 85 birthday. Lots of food, obviously!. Those are some desserts, even that delightful 'tomato'.

El fin de semana fue de lo más soleado, y fue una suerte, ya que celebrábamos el 85 cumpleaños del padre de Mr.A. Así que nos fuimos a comer estupendamente por ahí. Fotos de los postres, gentileza de la mamá de Mr.A.. Sí, son postres, también el 'tomate'!.

Then we had a spring-like weather week, which is becoming 'normal winter weather'. Sometimes rainy, and really windy, again!. So I wore my Seasalt trench coat and some dresses in an increasingly springy mood.

Y a continuación tuvimos un tiempo de lo más primaveral, lo que se está volviendo normal en invierno. Un poco de lluvia y mucho viento, otra vez. Así que me puse el abrigo impermeable de Seasalt y unos cuantos vestidos cada vez más primaverales.
Vestido del CandA, antiguo. Chaquetita bolero de segunda mano. Medias de Snag. Zapatos Camper. Colgante de turquesa (falsa). Pendientes de MateriaRica. Broche vintage esmaltado.

Repeat offender of the week!. I wore that cotton gauze dress (from Vinted, label Toscane) twice in a row. Firstly, I picked a teal turtleneck and a citron cardigan (both were second hand finds), Snag tights and my trusty Camper shoes. That second hand shearling coat was acquired years ago.

El reincidente de la semana!. Me puse este mismo vestido de algodón (de Vinted, marca Toscane) dos veces seguidas. Primero lo combiné con un cuello vuelto azulado y una chaquetita de punto color verdelima (ambos de segunda mano). Medias Snag y mis zapatos Camper. El abrigo de piel vuelta es de segunda mano y lo compré ya hace años.

Next day I wore a black turtlenech (LaRedoute, old) under my dress and a pinky fleece (CandA) over. And added a vintage brooch. That coat by Seasalt was shopped two years ago and it's a real workhorse!.

Al día siguiente me puse un cuello vuelto negro (de LaRedoute) bajo el mismo vestido y por encima una chaqueta polar del CandA, y añadí un broche vintage. El abrigo de Seasalt lo compré hace ya un par de años y es de lo más práctico, me lo pongo mucho.

More spring-like vibes in the form of another Toscane dress (it also came from Vinted, so useful that you can search for label!). Lovely print (in my opinion) but a little short for my taste. Anyway, it was complimented by coworkers!. That crochet cardi that I made of leftovers is amazingly versatile!, it goes with anything!. Pendant by Silvereira.

Cada vez más primaveral!. Este otro vestido también es de la marca Toscane y también vino de Vinted (es muy útil buscar por marcas!, así lo encontré). El estampado me gusta mucho, pero lo veo un poco corto. Aunque igualmente me hicieron algunos cumplidos! (siempre bien!). La chaqueta de ganchillo la hice con sobrantes y ha resultado increíblemente combinable, va con casi todo!. Colgante de Silvereira.

Back to Business

I'm back to business as usual, so back to work and back to busy evenings too. Despite last week was not particularly hectic, I felt grateful it was shorter (due to Monday being a holiday bank). Then we spent our weekend running errands and filling our fridge with some healthy food for the week. Usually we cook two casseroles on Sunday or at least get some ingredients ready for use. We've never called it 'batch cooking' as it's something many people has been doing for ages, so no special name for cooking in advance.

Winter had not reared its head last week, the weather was still quite warm and I wore just lightweight coats and some of my crochet cardis. Actually, crochet cardis are becoming signature pieces, which is totally a silver lining of being an addicted to yarn and crochet. On the other side, I had to find new ways to store all that yarn in my (cluttered) crafty corner.
That dress is 80's vintage and was a hand-me-down by a friend. Tights by Snag (in a favourite colour, Beach Bum!). Sneakers by Skechers. Trench by Seasalt. Wool scarf by AlpagaMonde.

More turquoise colour next day. I wore a comfy tunic-dress that Mom gave me, with some wide legged trousers (PuntRoma) and my old DrMartens boots, which unfortunately I only can walk in for a short time. Should I sell them?.

Friday was another unseasonably warm day, so I went bare legged and wore just a lightweight jacket (by Seasalt). Yes, you've read it right, Bare Legged under those palazzos. We had 17ºC in the middle of January. Crazy weather.

Not having a lot of activity in the internet these days myself, I need to find a time slice for my blogging activities!

Twelfth Night

It's been a long time (Again!) but December was a busy time with lots of social life!. Firstly Mr.A's parents came home for some days, then we had usual gatherings to clink glasses with coworkers and acquaintances. Finally my parents stayed at home for two weeks to celebrate Xmas and New Year, which involved lots of food both at home and at favourite tabernas (typical spanish style).

De nuevo ha pasado un rato largo, pero resulta que el mes de diciembre he tenido mucho lío y mucha vida social. Primero con la visita de los padres de Mr.A y celebraciones varias, luego las habituales cenas y brindis con colegas y amiguetes. Y luego mis padres vinieron a casa a pasar la navidad y el año nuevo, lo que obviamente significa que comimos y bebimos mucho y bien, tanto en casa como fuera, como de costumbre por aquí.

Para los fans del estilo de mi mama, aquí llevaba un abrigo vintage (de su propia colección) y unos zapatos chulísimos de Callaghan.

But there was still a last step in our holiday season, as we celebrate Epiphany or Twelfth Night here in Spain, (with some spectacular parades and a special cake). We met some friends the day before Epiphany and had a fab time, and my friend M. brought us some delightfully kitschy 80's vinyls as a present, which were inmediately played (and sung!)

Pero todavía queda la última etapa festiva de los Reyes Magos, incluyendo el roscón. Lo celebramos en una reunión en casa de unos amigos, brindando mucho y bien (de nuevo) y riendo mucho con unos discos de vinilo ochenteros que nos trajo M. como regalo, que escuchamos (y cantamos) inmediatamente. Esto último delata nuestra edad!

And there is a New Thing to show, as I finished another crochet project, a pullover in a quite amazing diamonds pattern (which is properly named Diamonds Not Pearls). Lightweight and warm as it's made of pure wool! (better than any fleece). And I'm now ready to make another one for my friend M. in green shades. Totally a crochet addicted myself!

Y aquí viene la única novedad en cuanto a ropa que puedo mostrar, un jersey de ganchillo que he acabado hace poco, y que me he puesto en cuanto he podido lavar y secar (con este clima, ha sido un reto!). Muy calentito y ligero, porque es lana, y mejor que cualquier forro polar. Y ahora voy a proceder a hacer otro para mi amiga M. en tonos verdes. Totalmente adicta al ganchillo.

Winter Is For Colours

It has been a long time!. We had visitors at home for some days, then did some cleaning and laundry, then I helped a friend with her moving, then we had to attend usual pre-holiday events with coworkers (a dinner for Mr.A. and a cocktail party for me) and then we took some days to recover before holidays!. Because my parents will come home on Sunday and I still haven't put up the tree!
So let's talk on clothes before the X-thing fall upon us!

Ha pasado un buen rato!. Como siempre, he estado liada, tuvimos visitas en casa unos días, luego tocó poner lavadoras y hacer limpieza, luego ayudamos a una amiga con su mudanza, luego las habituales cenas de trabajo (en caso de Mr.A.), brindis festivos (mi caso), y ya nos tomamos unos días para recobrar fuerzas antes de las fiestas. Porque ahora van a venir mis padres para celebrar y yo todavía ni he puesto el árbol!.
Así que hablemos de trapos ¡antes de que nos alcancen las fiestas!.

Totally normal winter weather! (only one or even two months later than 'normal'). The winter weather has taken its time to come but finally arrived. So it's time for layers.! Actually I do layers whenever possible, you know, except in heatwaves!, the difference is the weight of those layers. I wore a hot-pink fleece under my Seasalt trench as the weather was quite cold. That dress is an old favourite in my wardrobe, a second hand find at eBay years ago. Usually worn in a similar colour combo and similar accessories!. Tights by Snag. Booties by Treksta (ages old).

Clima invernal totalmente normal para esta época del año. Se ha tomado su tiempo, pero al fin ha llegado, aunque sea un mes o dos más tarde de lo 'normal'. Así que es el momento de llevar capa sobre capa. En realidad me gustan las superposiciones siempre (aunque no estoy loca y las evito en pleno verano), la diferencia es adaptarse con capas más ligeras o más abrigadas. Me puese esta chaqueta polar rosa bajo el abrigo impermeable de Seasalt, porque hacía bastante frío. Este vestido lleva tiempo en mi armario, es un verdadero clásico invernal (lo compré de segunda mano en eBay hace años) y suelo llevarlo con similares colores y accesorios. Medias de Snag. Botitas de Treksta (antigüitas).

Mr.A's mom always celebrate her Name Day which is also a holiday bank here in Spain. So we indulged in some delightful food and then we had cakes and champagne!. Totally decadent, isn't it?.

Aquí parte de la celebración de la Inmaculada, que es el santo de la mamá de Mr.A., así que nos pusimos lujosos con pastelitos y champán, no hay que dejar nada por celebrar!.

I've unearthed some of my 'winter classics', particularly happy to see those wool pieces that I crocheted last year. That cardi-vest was made of leftovers and I think it's versatile and colourful enough to jazz up any boring ensemble. I also added a massive pendant and a massive green bag (both by local artisans), just in case. That polka dot coat was shopped retail two years ago. Striped pullover by CandA. Wide legged trousers by PuntRoma (last year). Wool scarf from an artisan fair.

Toca desempolvar algunos de los clásicos invernales, y me alegra ver de nuevo estas prendas de ganchillo que me hice el año pasado. Este chaleco-chaqueta lo hice con restos de otros proyectos y creo que me quedó muy versátil y colorido, ideal para animar un conjunto sombrío. También añadí un colgante bien grande y un bolso ídem (los dos de artesanos locales), por si acaso. El abrigo de lunares lo compré localmente hará unos dos años. Jerséy de rayas de CandA. Pantalón ancho de PuntRoma del año pasado. Bufanda de lana de una feria de artesanía.

We had some rainy days, nothing particularly dangerous, but the river ran high. I took some photos of the (intended) floodable river banks. Nice weather for the ducks, but couldn't take a photo of them!.

Unos días lluviosos sin más, nada extraordinario, el río se desborda en la zona inundable todos los años y crea un paisaje interesante, con aves de todas clases (no pude fotografiarlas!)

Repeat offender alert!. I wore a similar combo next days, same crochet cardi-vest and same massive pendant (changed the black beads for a simple leather cord). But wore a different pullover (obviously!) and different trousers (also by PuntRoma). Yellow boots by NorthFace (outlet). You can play to 'find the difference' if you like it!. ;D
It was a cold day, so I layered my scarves (totally recommended to keep you warm once you've removed your coat and wool scarf). Layers lover!

Reincidente total!. Me puse un conjunto similar los siguientes días, el mismo chaleco-chaqueta y mismo colgante (pero cambié el collar por un cordel de cuero). Pero sí que eran diferentes la camiseta (evidentemente) y los pantalones negros, también de PuntRoma. Botitas amarillas de Northface outlet. Podéis jugar a 'encuentra las diferencias' ;D
Otro día frío, así que me puse una bufanda sobre el pañuelo que llevaba al cuello, un truco muy recomendable para seguir calentita una vez que te quitas el abrigo y la bufanda. Superposiciones A Tope.

That's another crochet cardi, but a summery one in cotton, so not particularly warm. I made no less than four cardigans using similar 'hexagon' patterns (Katie Jones' Hexmex, also Katie Jones' Kahlo and that free pattern) so I'm quite partial on them, but totally recommend this kind of pattern even for beginners.
Second hand skirt and blouse, tights by Snag, Adidas sneakers. I layered scarves again! (both were shopped retail).

Aquí hay otra chaquetita de ganchillo, pero esta es más veraniega, en algodón. Haciendo cuentas, me he hecho nada menos que cuatro chaquetitas usando un patrón similar en hexágono (en inglés Katie Jones Hexmex y también Katie Jones Kahlo y este otro patrón) así que está claro que me ha gustado, y lo recomiendo incluso para principiantes.
Falda y blusa de segunda mano, medias Snag, zapatillas Adidas outlet. Y más bufandas superpuestas (ambas de tiendas locales).

Another repeat offender in one of my favourite 'mottos': Orange Is The New Orange!. That dress was acquired at Vinted last year. Puffer jacket was shopped retail. Tights by Snag. Sneakers by Nike outlet. Charity shopped necklace.

Otro reincidente y con una de mis frases favoritas: El Naranja Es El Nuevo Naranja. El vestido es de Vinted, del año pasado. Chaqueta acolchada de una tienda local. Medias de Snag. Zapatillas de Nike outlet. Collar de una tienda solidaria.

Another day, same dress!. But I wore a different turtleneck (obviously) in a violet shade. And added an orange cardi! (pattern by Katie Jones). I'm making the most even of those 'summery' cardigans.

Otro día, mismo vestido!. Pero me puse un cuello vuelto diferente (evidentemente) esta vez en un tono violeta. Y añadí una chaquetita de ganchillo, ¡cómo no! (el patrón es de Katie Jones). Le estoy sacando partido a estas chaquetitas supuestamente de verano!.

After some rainy days and some uninteresting outfits, I dediced to go shopping into my own wardrobe and picked something to cheer me up on Saturday morning. That skirt has been neglected for months despite being one of my favourite joyful pieces!, so it was immediately unearthed to create a Riot of Colour!. Usual crochet cardi by me and usual old turtleneck (by LaRedoute). Tights by Snag. Boots by Northface outlet. Usual cork bag by FineCorkPortugal.

Después de unos cuantos días de lluvia y de ni siquiera sacarme fotos de lo que llevaba de lo aburrido que era, me decidí a irme de compras a mi propio armario y buscar algo para animar el sábado. Esta falda hace tiempo que ni me la pongo, aunque siempre ha sido una de mis prendas más alegres y favoritísimas, así que la saqué inmediatamente para crear una explosión de color!. Misma chaquetita de ganchillo, con otro cuello vuelto (este de LaRedoute). Medias Snag. Botitas de NortFace outlet. El habitual bolso de corcho de FineCorkPortugal.

Same cardigan again!. That dress was acquired at Vinted, a summery piece, but I keep it in my wardrobe the whole year round (some of my summery dresses layer nicely). Tights by Snag. Sneakers by Élémenterre.
Otra vez esta misma chaqueta!. El vestido lo compré en Vinted, y es muy veraniego, pero lo tengo en el armario el año entero (tengo algunos vestidos de verano así, que sirven bien para superposiciones). Medias Snag. Zapatillas de Élémenterre.
