minimum effort

Last Sunday has been a lovely summer day, not too hot (under 30ºC!!) and no storms nor rain, just as summer should be. So we enjoyed a long walk and then typical aperitives and tapas. Having an aperitif before Sunday's lunch is called 'vermouth time' (even if most of the people choose to drink another beverage!) and it's a highly respected tradition that nowadays has become a trend between the young and cool ones (who I don't feel involved with, but who cares!). Obviously, I forgot to take pics of any of these 'activities' as I was too busy enjoying/tasting/chatting!. Not a good blogger!
But I took pics of a new-to-me outfit, wearing a black and white tunic recently purchased at Sunday's street market. I'm not a huge fan of white shirts, but this one has embroidered flowers and an interesting shape so I think it's a keeper. One of the things I enjoy the most about buying second hand is that it provides lots of possibilities to try different styles. And it's also a source of inspiration!.

Linking Visible Monday and wishing you a Visible Week and a Slow Fashion Season.

lazy summer

I've been having some computer issues, probably because of the (high) temperatures, so my blogging and commenting have been affected. However I'm taking it easy because it's too hot to become stressed by anything, as we're having another heatwave. Actually, even if I miss blogging, I'm making the most of this pause (actually you can find me by the poolside every evening!)
Anyway, I've not been totally inoperative, as I made this recap of what I wore around ten years ago. I think it could be a curiosity to see my evolution as many of these clothes are still in my wardrobe (obviously, some others are not, they were given to friends or donated to charities). Totally in a Slow Fashion Season!

blue maxi dresses

I've worn this new-to-me floral dress for the first time and been so comfortable that wore it the next day too. The second dress was worn previously here and here and it was also a second hand purchase. Actually, both dresses are really comfortable and both are made of a light viscose knit, which is one of my favourite fabrics ever, as it is breathable and have a nice drape too. So I feel lucky everytime I read 'viscose' in a label when thrifting (this is another thing I've learned: read the labels, all of them!).
I know that this kind of maxi dress doesn't make me any favour (I hate this expression!) and that it looks like if I have not a waist (which could be right, actually). But it feels like wearing my pyjamas and a very comfortable ones that drape me nicely and flow when I walk. I tried to show it by moving the skirt but didn't photograph well!
Linking Visible Monday and wishing you a visible week!. Remember we're in a #slowfashionseason and enjoy it!

He intentado mostrarlo moviendo la falda, pero no he conseguido fotografiarlo!

- bag, a present (old) / bolsito, un regalo
- sandals, Chiruca / sandalias

I had this same pair of sandals in pink (here) so couldn't resist them in turquoise! they're really comfy!. Bought them at a factory outlet some months ago. I had to add a little heel to my pink ones, and my cobbler painted a strip of pink on the heel to continue the design. But now he has made it even better in the turquoise ones, because he added a matchy heel. These details make me happy!

blue gingham tops

Once more we've been pretending to be tourists, so taken pics in front of local monuments!. This is the front door of the Cathedral, a baroque style façade. And another interesting monument is this awarded gelateria where local fruits and vegetables are transformed into delightful icecreams! Can you imagine a 'fig tree shade' icecream?.
And they have lactose free icecreams too, which I love! (and it's not a sponsored post!)
Linking Visible Monday and hoping you're having a visible week!

- skirt, made of a second hand dress (old) / falda, hecha de un vestido de segunda mano
- bag, Matties (old) bought retail / bolso, Matties, comprado en tienda local

These are some of my last purchases at Sundays street market, and my first designer piece!. This skirt came from a pile of second hand stuff on a table, where its colors made it shine!. It's not my size, but anyway I feel happy, because it means that my skills in rummaging are increasing!. I'll be happy if any of my friends wear it!

massive flower & clothes circuit

This was another strapless maxidress that I recently bought (second hand), so I'm becoming a repeat offender. The reason to keep buying strapless dresses when I don't do strapless, is because of the amazing prints, and the possibilities!. There are many possibilities in a maxi dress, it's a lot of fabric! (as Vix said). So you can add straps (as I made previously in other dress) but you can also make a skirt, or go for a total revamp!
I've been visiting our local street market every Sunday and been lucky almost everytime I did!. Obviously, I prefer to visit some charities, but they don't open in the evenings nor Saturday mornings in the summer.
When I started visiting this open-air market and rummaging through the piles of second hand clothes I usually felt dissapointed and tired. But nowadays I've understand that the secret is to take your time and never let any stone unturned. It's also useful to know the 'character' of the sellers (are they trustworthy?) and the origin of what they offer. I suspect that some retailers' clothes could come from Germany or Denmark, as these are the languages I've read on labels, which is fine with me because plus sizes are more frequent!. They're probably clothing donations which are sent abroad to be sold in markets. I've read that this has caused many problems in Africa, but here local retailers don't look concerned by these competitors (second hand shoppers are a minority), they're more worried about shopping centres and fast fashion!.

- green blouse, La Redoute (old) / blusa verde
- sandals, Art (old) / sandalias
- necklace by Ciclón (a present) old / collar, un regalo de hace años
- papier maché bracelets, made by me / pulseras de papel maché, hechas por mí
- earrings, Silvereira (old) / pendientes

I gave a try to the dress before cutting it, but the elasticated top was really wobbly and I didn't feel like wearing it this way.

cool summer

We're having a respite in the #HeatwaveFromHell which means that current temperature of 'only' 32ºC / 89ºF feels really pleasant. Having less than 20ºC / 68ºF in the night is delightfully fresh, particularly when you go to bed and wrap yourself in a sheet (something impossible some days ago when we had 25-30ºC all night / 75-85ºF). So now I'm enjoying every chance to be outside, running errands, sitting on a terrace or going for a walk, because I'm afraid that another heatwave could hit us next week!
This is what I wore last week, light fabrics, tunics and leggings and sundresses. Actually I have had some of these clothes for ages (specifically since 2011), and still enjoy so there's no reason to get rid of them!. Totally into Slow Fashion Season!
Linking Visible Monday and wishing you a Visible Week!
