Sunshine & January

I'm sorry that so many people are affected by January Blues, lots of them being affected also by the flu. Not the best time of the year, even if March gains favour as my less favourite month, probably because it's when all my energy stores have been well spent.
But no reason for any winter sadness here in the sunny Spain (/irony) as we're having 'the warmest January since records began' and 'basking in scorching temperatures' (it was in the news!). We're having the most unseasonable heat ever, even in the north of Spain, 19ºC here in the evenings. Not good news, as water shortage is already a problem, so hope the weather will be back to business as usual asap!.

But let's talk on clothes!. That was what I wore on Saturday morning to run errands (we went to the local market, bakery, newsstand and pharmacy, everything in a 5 minutes distance) and then we had our usual apéro. I lead such a wild life! ;D
I'm wearing a lot that puffer jacket (shopped it retail), orange is the new orange!. Wool scarf shopped at an artisan fair. Second hand dress came from Sunday street market. Tights by Snag. Turtleneck by LaRedoute (many years old). Necklace by Ciclón (a present, years ago). Shoes by Camper. Usual cork bag by Fine Cork Portugal.

And now let me go back in time, as that's something I wore to go to work on Thursday. My repeat offender of the week was that short sleeved yellow cardi, which adds a layer of colour and works as a vest/waistcoat. It's a practical layer too, in the springy weather we're 'enjoying'.

Second hand cardi came from eBay years ago. Black turtleneck by LaRedoute (old). Vintage 80's skirt from Sunday street market. Purple tights by Snag. Boots by NorthFace outlet. Black puffer jacket was shopped retail many years ago. Earrings from local retailer Eme. Brooch made by me. Beads made by a local artisan.

I have a weakness for 80's prints, particularly the geometric ones! (not everybody's cup of tea!)
Another day, same yellow cardi (and same orange jacket again). That skirt is another vintage 80's one that I found at Sunday street market. Turtleneck by LaRedoute (old), I have a lot of them in different colours!. Tights by Snag (Sufragette Purple, a favourite colour).
And these are my latest finds at Sunday street market. That polyester dress in a groovy geometric print was altered by previous owner, not sure if it's flattering on me (I'll give it a test drive soon!). Cotton thread spools acquired at a stall which was having a clearance sale on haberdashery stocks (Went mad and shopped a rainbow of them!). A crochet wrap that I had planned to undo and use in my own projects, but it looks nice once I unsew its seams, it's like a blanket-shawl (we'll see!).

Have a fabulous week!

  1. You bring so much colour and fabulousness to blogland, Monica! My friend who lives on the Costa Del Sol keeps messaging me and making me insanely jealous telling me that she's lying on the beach....arghhh!
Love the orange is the new orange outfit and the repeat offender cardi and the groovy printed skirt.
Didn't you do well with the flea market finds? That dress would make a fabulous boxy top if it doesn't work as it is, the crochet is beautiful and I'd have snapped up that rainbow of thread, too! xxx

  2. We've been having double digit temperatures as well, but much more moderate than your 19°C, which sounds absolutely crazy! No wonder nature is out of sync! I also think it's quite difficult to get dressed for such weather, as I can imagine your mornings are still chilly!
Your outfits are fabulous, as always, and an absolute joy to behold. I do love a 1980s print! But my favourite outfit must be the first one! That dress is delightful, and I do so love an orange and purple combo!
That crochet wrap looks quite groovy. Can't wait to see what you decide to do with it! Besos xxx

  3. Lovely colour combinations, Monica, and the prints on both the skirts are fab! I do hope your weather starts behaving as it should. I loved your flea market finds; the dress's pattern reminded me of bee's honeycombs and the crochet shawl cardi is beautiful. So pleased for you about the cotton reels; such amazing colours and so useful...

  4. I love your orange puffer - orange IS the new orange! Wow, that's some wild weather! We're not having our usual rains this winter, which bodes very poorly for our summer with threats of wildfire season being one of the worst ever. What the heck have we humans done to this world??

  5. Splendid colourful outfits. I hope March hasn't been too bad for you so far, though bits of Spain seem to have had a lot of rain.
