Autumn Colours

Autumn is here to stay as there's a distinctive chilly breeze even when temperatures are still warm in the midday. The mornings are chillier actually, sometimes below 5ºC, so it's time to layer (which I love!) and it's also time to have a wardrobe switch over. I've stored my 'heatwave capsule' and some other summery stuff, and bring back some long sleeved items, but not all of them. Still there is a box of winter clothes stored, that I keep for Real Winter Weather (it's the reverse of my 'heatwave capsule'). I think that a switch over every three months accomodate our climate. My out-of-season clothes are stored in my spare room, into boxes or hanged into plastic bags, creating some 'capsules' that I can bring back to my wardrobe easily. It feels like going shopping, only better!

I had a rummage in some second hand stalls at our Sunday street market, and found this orange-red t-shirt by Zara in a so-called medium size. This is how it looked before I tailored it, tapering the seams and adding two back darts, and shortened it too. So I've given it the complete treatment. Now I have to take some photos of the way it looks 'after' ;D

- skirt, self sewed using some second hand scarves / falda, costura casera, usando unos chales (de segunda mano)
- sneakers, Reebok outlet (old) / zapatillas
- necklace, a present (old) / collar, un regalo, antigüito
- straw bag, Etsy (old) / bolso de paja
This self-sewed skirt always inspires me to wear a favourite colour combo: orange and purple!. I wore this outfit my first day at work to cheer me up, and it worked (colour therapy!).
The black shirt came from Sunday street market and was tailored and shortened too. It's an easy sewing that makes a difference. The clogs were originally off-white and were taken to the cobbler to have them dyed; I'm happier with them now!.

- purple coat, eBay (second hand) old / abrigo morado, eBay (segunda mano) hace tiempo
- cork bag, Fine Cork Portugal / bolso de corcho
- necklace, Aïta (old) / collar
Have a fabulous week!

Espero que tengáis una semana estupenda.

  1. Loving the ruffled Zara top and can't wait to see it after your makeover and, as always, the West African waxed cotton looks fabulous on you!
I do the same as you, swapping a few bits over every few weeks, it's still hovering at 16°C at the moment (hotter than it was in the UK in August) and I'm determined to hang on to summer as long as I possibly can no matter what it says on the calendar! xxx

  2. I'm doing my wardrobe changeover a bit like you do, and like you I have a heatwave capsule - which hardly saw the light of day this Summer - and a Real Winter Weather one :-) So far, I've only done a part changeover ...
I can't wait to see that refashioned Zara top on you. I'm loving the skirt you've worn the ruffled version with!
Your second outfit - worn for your first day back at work - is an absolute delight in every way. That skirt is magnificent and I love the purple opaques worn with the dyed orange clogs! Besos xxx

  4. I love the red shirt and the way you styled it, and worked on it! And your system seems very smart - much better than two parts wardrobe (warm/cold season) which I've adapted. There is always in between. :)
    Much love!

  5. Purple and orange rock!

Fabulous outfits. I loved the red tunic over the skirt and what a fab job you made in altering it. The African print skirt with the black shirt and purple coat was so good and the orange dyed sandals were a brilliant idea. I went through a stage in the 80s of dying my shoes. It's quite hard to find shoes dye other than in neutral colours now.

  6. I LOVE that ruffled top - you look very Roaring Twenties in that outfit. I am a massive fan of orange and purple, and what a magnificent outfit this is. Love that you had the shoes dyed (I would have drawn all over them, heh heh).
