spring is in the air

Finally, spring is coming, but it's coming in its more unpredictable facet. We're having warm days mixed with cold ones, even cold and hot weather in one only day (5ºC/40ºF in the morning, then 26ºC/80ºF in the afternoon). So I've been wearing long sleeves and tights in the morning and then removed them in the afternoon. Lots of adding layers and removing layers, which I usually enjoy, but it's becoming a little bit boring!
I've worn my 'jungle print' maxi dress once more, as it's perfect for all the layering I have to do (and undo). This dress is becoming a favorite of mine these days and I'll probably wear it until it falls apart. I don't like to save anything for a better occasion, and that includes preserving any favorite clothes of being overused. I prefer to wear whatever I like now and enjoy the moment!

Finalmente, la primavera está llegando, pero está llegando en su faceta más impredecible. Tenemos unos días de calor, luego frío, incluso frío y calor en un solo día, una locura de 5ºC por la mañana y luego 26ºC al mediodía. Así que he estado poniéndome mangas largas y medias por la mañana y luego quitándomelas por la tarde, todo el rato añadiendo y quitando superposiciones, que normalmente me encantaría, pero se está volviendo un poco cansino ya.
Me he puesto mi vestido de 'estampado jungla', porque es perfecto para todas estas superposiciones que tengo que poner y quitar. Este vestido se ha convertido en uno de mis favoritos últimamente, y probablemente me lo ponga un montón, hasta que se caiga a pedazos. No me gusta esa idea de reservar la ropa para las ocasiones, y eso incluye también el evitar ponerte todo el rato tu ropa favorita, para 'no estropearla'. Personalmente, prefiero ponerme lo que sea que me guste ahora mismo, y disfrutar el momento.

spring blues

Last days I've been busy doing a variety of spring tasks, like switching seasons in my wardrobe, planting some basil and geranium in my balcony pots and actually being busy as a bee. All these activities were enjoyed and I feel quite satisfied with myself, so spring is not being the usual shitty season it used to be (for me). After a week of an unpleasantly cold weather (snow!), now temperatures are rising, allergies are not severe and the perspectives are good in general!

Estos últimos días he estado ocupada con varias tareas primaverales, como cambiar toda la ropa de invierno por la de primavera, plantar albahaca y geranios en las macetas del balcón y en general, estar muy liada. Todo ello me ha parecido muy entretenido, lo he pasado bien y estoy contenta conmigo misma, así que la primavera no está siendo la estación miserable que solía ser (para mí). Y después de una semana de un tiempo de puro invierno (con nieve!), ahora las temperaturas suben, las alergias no están siendo graves y las perspectivas se presentan favorables en general!

These bedside tables were bought at a charity shop some weeks ago, and this is how they look now, after a renovation. I've used sandpaper, then painted them and changed their handles (Zara Home) which were the most expensive thing in all this project. I also bought a can of blue paint, but could use some leftovers of pale blue to paint the drawers. Well, they looked quite boring, so I added a little bit of 'creativity'.
Even adding the cost of the paint, the new handles and the adhesive paper which I used to line the inside of drawers, the final cost was really inexpensive. And now I have all these drawers to store my crafty supplies, bijouterie or whatever I finally decide.

Estas mesitas de noche las compré en una tienda solidaria hace unas semanas, y así es como me han quedado, después de la renovación. Osea, después de lijarlas, pintarlas y cambiarles los pomos (Zara Home) que fueron lo más caro de todo el proyecto. También compré la pintura azul, pero aproveché unas sobras de azul claro para los cajones. Bueno, como me parecían un poco aburridos, no los dejé lisos, y les añadí un toque 'creativo'.
Incluso después del coste de la pintura, los pomos y el papel adhesivo con el que forré los cajones, el coste final sigue siendo económico!. Y ahora tengo un montón de cajoncitos para guardar material de manualidades, bisuterías o lo que quiera que se me ocurra.

cold spring

It has been quite chilly these days, so some layering was needed!. I actually refuse to come back to wearing winter coats, as I already stored them and it would feel like giving up!. Anyway, this trench was not warm enough and I almost freeze my #* when I came home in the evening.
This new-to-me brooch came from the same charity shop where I bought a pair of bedside tables which have been keeping me busy!

Hemos tenido unos días bastante frescos, así que ha hecho falta superponer capa sobre capa. En realidad es que me niego a volver atrás a los abrigos de invierno, que ya tengo guardados, sería como rendirse!. De todos modos, esta gabardinilla no era suficientemente abrigada y casi se me hiela el #* cuando volvía a casa por la noche.
Este broche de segunda mano vino de la tienda solidaria donde también compré el par de mesillas de noche que me están manteniendo ocupada!

long weekend

I'm back to business as usual, after a long weekend (two bank holidays!) that we spent with my parents. I was running errands with my mom when we stopped to take photos of each other, but we failed at taking a picture of both of us together. My mom was wearing a pair of vintage culottes from her own wardrobe, which is becoming a source of vintage pieces for both of us!. Now she's regreting having discarded many other pieces (and me too!)

De vuelta a la vida habitual, después de este largo fin de semana (con dos días de fiesta extra!) que hemos pasado con mis padres. Estaba haciendo unos recados con mi madre, cuando paramos para tomarnos unas fotos, la una de la otra, pero no hubo foto conjunta de las dos. Mi madre llevaba una falda pantalón vintage de su propia cosecha, osea de su propio armario, que se está convirtiendo en una fuente de prendas vintage para las dos. Ahora se está arrepintiendo de haber descartado algunas otras prendas (y yo también).
