long weekend

It has been a long weekend that was spent almost totally painting and decorating our living room. It has taken us two days to do all the painting and cleaning, but there's still a lot of work to be done!
But there has been time to go for a walk, enjoy the flowers blooming at the city parks and taste some aperitives too!. I've also had time to receive my friend M. for our usual 'sewing saturday' which involves (obviously) sharing skills, patterns and fabrics, but also some delicious food. Lots of fun, but no photos as we were too busy!

Ha sido un larguísimo fin de semana, gastado casi por completo en pintar y decorar nuestra sala de estar. Nos ha llevado dos días, entre pintar y limpiar, y todavía queda mucho trabajo por hacer.
Pero también ha habido tiempo para salir a dar una vuelta, disfrutar de toda esa floración en los parques, y tomar unos pinchos también. También he tenido tiempo de recibir a mi amiga M. para nuestro habitual 'sábado de costura', donde compartimos proyectos de costura, patrones, telas y tal, pero también hay una comida muy buena. Muy divertido, pero ni se me ocurrió sacar una foto, estaba demasiado liada!


I was wearing a black coat when this pics were taken, but I thought it was not very interesting to show it once more. Winter coats are becoming really boring pieces, but still needed.
This maxi skirt was sent to me by Vix, and I've worn it lots of times (always with a vest and similar accessories, firt time in Jan2014), even if didn't show it so much in the blog. I had planned to wear it with my purple duster, but it was cold!

Llevaba un abrigo negro cuando me saqué estas fotos, pero no me pareció interesante sacarlo otra vez. Los abrigos de invierno se están volviendo de lo más aburrido, aunque aún nos hagan falta.
La falda larga me la envió Vix, y me la he puesto muchas veces, la primera en En2014, aunque no lo saque mucho aquí. Quería ponérmela con la gabardina morada, pero hacía frío!

dusty duster & sundress

It's still chilly, however I'm entering in a spring mood, so decided to wear a trench (instead of usual puff coats!). This kind of duster has been in my wardrobe for some years, and I recently tried to overdye it to refresh its color which was looking particularly dusty. Not my most successful dye job, as it looks almost the same. Anyway, it's a useful trench/duster in a purple shade, and it was time to wear it once more.
Obviously, I picked a warm jacket (tweed!), because it was cold. Then I picked a sundress, because I'm not really sensible and liked the matching colors. I believe that any summer dress could be worn over a turtleneck and tights and become a winter dress, but it doesn't always work. I think that this sundress is going to wait until real spring and then I'll give it another try (probably).

Todavía hace frío, pero yo estoy entrando ya en el modo primavera, y decidí ponerme una gabardina, en vez de los habituales abrigos acolchados. Esta especie de guardapolvo ha estado en mi armario desde hace años, y hace poco intenté 'refrescar' el color que se había quedado desgastado, con tinte. Casi ni se nota, no ha sido precisamente un éxito. De todos modos, es un guardapolvo que sirve, en un tono morado que me puede ir bien, así que lo pienso llevar!
Claro está, me puse debajo una chaqueta abrigada, porque hacía frío. Y luego me puse un vestido de verano, de tirantes, porque no soy tan prudente, y porque me iban bien los colores. Tengo la idea de que cualquier vestido de verano puede llevarse en invierno, si te lo pones sobre un cuello vuelto y medias, pero esto no siempre es verdad. Creo que este vestido, concretamente, va a quedarse en la reserva hasta la primavera y entonces le daré otra oportunidad (quizás). Me refiero a la primavera de verdad!

southern exposure

I've been out for a short holiday in the Canary Islands (Tenerife) and it has been very different from our usual holidays because it was booked at a travel agent's. It has been also our first trip to the islands!. We spent most of the time swimming or lying on beach beds, reading some books, but we also took some excursions to see the island (we just couldn't lie still). We've enjoyed it, it has been pretty relaxed, but I still prefer to organise my own holiday trips. The weather, the natural landscapes, the people and the atmosphere were awesome, so I think we will probably go back!
Now I'm back to snow and sleet and business as usual, so I'll try to catch up with all your blogs as soon as possible!

He estado fuera de vacaciones en las Canarias (Tenerife) una semanita, y ha sido muy diferente del estilo de vacaciones que hago normalmente, porque esta vez contratamos por agencia. También ha sido nuestro primer viaje a las islas!. Nos hemos pasado la mayor parte del tiempo nadando o tirados en las hamacas leyendo novelas, pero también hemos salido de excursión para ver la isla (no nos podemos quedar quietos!). Ha sido estupendo y muy relajante, aunque sigo prefiriendo organizar las vacaciones a mi manera. El tiempo, los paisajes naturales, la gente, todo ha sido estupendo, así que supongo que volveremos!
Ahora ya estoy de vuelta a la nieve y el frío, e intentaré ponerme al día con los blogs tan pronto como pueda!

This dress is becoming a favorite of mine very quickly, I've even worn it to go to work after holidays, as it made me feel still in a summery mood. Here I wore it with a pair of maryjanes, which actually don't match, but I was really comfortable to go for a walk!. This pink shawl was bought at a retail shop, and was very useful when visiting the National Park, as it was chilly!

Este vestido se está convirtiendo en uno de mis favoritos muy rápidamente, incluso me lo he puesto el día de vuelta al trabajo, me hace sentir todavía en modo veraniego!. Aquí me lo puse con estas merceditas, que no van muy bien, pero que me iban muy cómodas para caminar. El chal rosa lo compré en una tiendita local, y me vino de perlas para la visita al Teide, que allí hace fresco!

tropical & winter

When I was looking for a jacket to wear with this new-to-me dress, I tried some purple or violet ones, but this purple tweed looked too unexpected to be ingnored. The moment I tried it, the moment I had to wear it, even if it could make me look like a crazy lady. A crazy lady wearing a faux chanel jacket, a thrifted sundress that falls too short and a pair of comfy booties. But let's pretend that this is some kind of gucci-esque style!

Cuando estaba buscando una chaqueta para ponerme con este vestido, me probé unas cuantas en morado o violeta, pero esta destacó enseguida, porque me pareció muy chocante, imposible de ignorar. Y en cuanto me la probé, tenía que llevarla, aunque la mezcla sea imposible y parezca una loca. Una loca que se pone una chaqueta chanelesca, un vestido de estampado tropical (de segunda mano) que le queda un poco corto, y un par de botines cómodos. Pero mejor hagamos como que esto es estilo gucci, y listo!.
