dresses over trousers

I've been enjoying some summer layering again, as it was chilly in the early morning, and still quite windy. So I've picked this floral dress to be worn as a summer coat. It's a linen dress, which I thrifted (some time ago) without trying it on, and then I realized that it didn't fit me properly as a dress. But I kept it for some months, thinking that it could be revamped. Now I'm in doubt!
The second one is a black linen dress which I've owned for decades, and it's also too tight to be worn as a dress (now), but it's one of my favorite layering pieces!. It was one of my favorite dresses back in the 90's!
I've sewn my first pair of pants, in gingham fabric, a pair of wide pants which look like the kind of pants a chef could wear!. Anyway, they're comfy as pyjama pants (as most of my pants do) and kinda cool (ahem).
There will be some hot days to come, (aka no layering days), and then, some rain. This is being so unpredictable!

  3. I love that floral linen dress worn as a coat over white trousers. And such lovely earrings. The black dress/coat is a timeless piece. I don't think I own anything I had in the 90s anymore ... Weather's the same here in Belgium, up and down, and up and down again. Either too hot or too cold! Besos xxx

  4. I love long coats on tall people. I too have revamped dresses that don't fit or aren't comfortable into coats.
You look great! Love the hat. Xo Jazzy Jack

  5. I am so in love with the first look! It is AMAZING - it is so perfect over the white pants! I can't find the right words at the moment, but I really really love it! Wear it as a summer coat, and when the inspiration comes, you will know what else you can do with it!
    Lots of love!

  6. Those dresses look great worn open as a layering piece over pants and a top. I found a beautiful cotton pinstripe dress at the thrift store that is a bit too tight in the chest, so I've been wearing it open over a tank top and wide leg pants - great minds think alike!!
