Joyful Tunic & colours

It's still spring and still feeling not completely happy with it. But I'm wearing colours anyway, particularly in this joyful tunic which I wore twice in a row, because it's nice to rewear your clothes (don't let other people tell you other thing!). And it's also funny to create a different outfit just changing accessories or go shopping to my own wardrobe.
The big beads necklace is a really old piece that I rethreaded years ago, but its string has broken again. And it happened when I was coming home from work. I noticed the first bead hitting the ground and thought it was just a button, until all of them started to drop noisily and roll around. I rescued some of them, opening my bag and letting them drop in it, and then had to look around me in the street (which luckily was a quiet one!). Probably some beads have missed, but I'll rethread the necklace anyway and keep wearing it!

Seguimos en primavera y yo sigo sin encontrarle la gracia, no es mi estación favorita. De cualquier manera, yo me visto de colores, en especial en esta túnica tan alegre, que llevé dos veces seguidas. Está perfecto repetir ropa, no dejéis que nadie os diga lo contrario. Y además es divertido crear algo distinto simplemente cambiando los accesorios, o irme de compras a mi propio armario.
Este collar de bolas gordas es antigüito, ya lo tuve que volver a enhebrar hace años, pero se ha roto el hilo otra vez. Me pasó justo cuando volvía a casa del trabajo. Sentí la primera bolita caer al suelo y pensé que era un botón, hasta que todas las bolas empezaron a caer y rodar alrededor, armando un jaleo increíble. Salvé unas cuantas, abriendo el bolso y dejándolas caer dentro, y luego ya tuve que mirar alrededor en la calle, que por suerte estaba vacía!. Puede que algunas piezas se hayan perdido, pero lo voy a volver a enhebrar de nuevo y lo seguiré usando.

spring & heatwave

The spring weather keeps being a conversation theme, as it's not only unpredictable, but also incredibly hot, totally Summer in Spring the whole week. And I'm talking about Real Summer, spanish style, so the temperatures rise up to 35ºC here in the north (and even higher in the south). We've had those (dusty and hot) southern winds again, which makes allergic symptoms more annoying. Not a huge fan of it, if you haven't noticed!
I've been wearing clothes from my 'heatwave capsule', road tested items that help to deal with hot weather. This self-sewed black&white dress is one of my favourites, lightweight and floaty!. I've added my 80's summer duster in the early morning (13ºC) but I have to carry it in my bag for most of my day. A friend commented that it looks a little bit Downton Abbey, which I loved. Actually, I've watched some episodes and loved the 20's costumes. So I kept this idea as an inspiration and wore a kimono over my dress the next day.

El clima primaveral sigue siendo tema de conversación, porque no sólo es impredecible, es que además ha hecho un calor totalmente fuera de lo normal, totalmente de verano. Verano como julio, me refiero, así que la temperatura ha subido de los 35ºC aquí en el norte, e incluso peor en el sur. Hemos tenido de nuevo viento sur, muy polvoriento, que hace empeorar las alergias. Por si no se nota, ¡no me gusta nada este tiempo!
He tenido que sacar la ropa de Ola De Calor, que son prendas que tengo reservadas para estas ocasiones. Este vestido blanco&negro es de costura casera, y me gusta mucho porque es ligerísimo y vaporoso. Le he añadido mi guardapolvo de los ochenta, porque por la mañana hacía 13ºC, luego tuve que llevarlo en el bolso todo el día. Una amiga me comentó que tenía un toque Downton Abbey, y me gustó la idea. Algo tiene que haber, porque he estado viendo algunos episodios y el vestuario años 20 me encanta. Así que decidí seguir con la inspiración y me puse un kimono sobre el vestido al día siguiente.

Not feeling my best these days, so I dressed up in some favourite colour combos, to turn my bad mood around (it doesn't work a miracle, but makes me feel better). Orange and purple to the rescue.

No estoy de muy buen humor estos días, así que recurrí a vestirme de algunos de mis colores favoritos, para animar un poco. Tampoco es que obre milagros, pero te sientes algo mejor. Naranja y morado al rescate!

summer in spring

Another busy week on sight and the unseasonably hot weather have induced me to spend some time organising my wardrobe. Actually, it was necessary to switch seasons earlier than expected, as we're having 30ºC now and even higher temperatures next days. 'Heatwave Capsule' to the rescue!. Never dreamed to have such hot weather on May.
This is what I wore last days (lighter layers, sandals) as temperatures rise. And it's straw bags seasons!. I've changed my usual cork bags for straw bags to go to work: I carry a lot of stuff in them, including my thermo flask. I still keep some (small) cross body bags for excursions and shopping, but my straw bags are worn almost everyday, so you'll see them here frequently!. This makes my life easier, as I hate to switch bags.

Con la perspectiva de una semana de mucho trabajo y el calor tan poco primaveral que se avecina, he pasado un tiempo organizando el armario. En realidad, he tenido que hacer el cambio de estación antes de lo normal, porque ya tenemos 30ºC e incluso más calor los próximos días. Es el momento de sacar mis conjuntitos 'ola de calor'. Ni se me pasaba por la imaginación tener estas temperaturas en mayo.
Estos últimos días me he puesto ropa más ligera y sandalias, según subían las temperaturas. Y también ha llegado la época de sacar los bolsos de paja, que sustituyen a los de corcho: llevo siempre muchos trastos, incluyendo el termo, cuando voy al trabajo. Todavía tengo unos cuantos bolsitos cruzados para paseos o excursiones, pero son los bolsos grandes de paja los que llevo cada día, y los veréis a menudo!. Es un modo de hacerme la vida más fácil, me fastidia cambiar de bolso.

We have had workers at home removing the bathtube and installing a shower in our ensuite bathroom. I was completely fed up with that *#@ impractical bathtube. Actually, it has been less messy than expected, even if we had to do some cleaning up. Meanwhile, we've enjoyed our spare room/visitors room and 'courtesy' bathroom for some days, which felt like being visitors in our own home.

Hemos tenido obras en casa, quitando la bañera e instalando ducha en nuestro baño principal. Estaba totalmente frita de usar esa bañera de *#@. No ha sido tan latoso como esperaba, aunque sí que hemos tenido que hacer limpieza. Mientras tanto, hemos estado usando la habitación de las visitas y el otro baño durante unos días, que ha sido como estar de visita en nuestra propia casa.

And this is our new shower!. I think it looks really better (not to speak about accessibility) even if it's still lacking accessories and decoration.
Y esta es la ducha nueva, que creo que queda mucho mejor (y ya ni hablemos de la comodidad) incluso sin accesorios ni decoración.

Springtime As Usual

Usual hectic season at work has started earlier this year, so I've been busy, even if not particularly stressed. Anyway, it's Spring!, which means lots of outdoor activities and excursions (good), but also means pollen allergies, asthenia, unpredictable weather and lots of noisy people everywhere (not so good). Sometimes I feel that my quiet lifestyle is not quiet enough!.
Every year I plan trips and excursions for springtime and most of them never happen (because of the weather, our timetables, commitments, or general laziness). Anyway, I want to make the most of the weather before it becomes too hot, so we're going out for some walks and cultural excursions (and food tasting too!).

Este año parece que la temporada alta en mi trabajo se ha adelantado, así que he estado muy ocupada (aunque tampoco es que esté estresada). De todos modos, es primavera y eso significa más actividades al aire libre y excursiones (bien), pero también alergia al polen, astenia, clima impredecible y montones de gente ruidosa (no tan bien). A veces me parece que mi vida no es todo lo tranquila que me gustaría.
Cada año hago planes de viajes y excursiones para la primavera y la mayoría nunca se realizan (por el clima, falta de tiempo, compromisos, o pereza en general). Sea como sea, quiero aprovechar este corto período de buen tiempo antes del calor, así que haremos alguna caminata y excursión cultural (la comida también es cultura!).

This is one of my classic spring ensembles, only that I usually wear my fuchsia trousers (as I did last year. These turquoise-acqua ones worked too, I think, even if they're not exactly matchy (but go!). And these are some fabulously comfy trousers and they have pockets!

Este es uno de mis conjuntos de primavera más clásicos, sólo que normalmente llevo mis pantalones fucsia (podéis verlo el año pasado). Estos otros pantalones turquesa funcionan también, aunque no sean exactamente conjuntados, pero pegan bien. Y además son comodísimos ¡y tienen bolsillos!

Last week I visited a fav charity shop with my friend M. and I was lucky to find this linen jacket in an amazing colour. Too tight, but I'm keeping it (for a while) as it goes with most of my summer wardrobe and it can be worn unfasten. It will eventually be redonated, as I don't keep clothes which don't fit for a long time. Priorities!

Hace unas semanas fuí a una de mis tiendas solidarias favoritas con mi amiga M. y tuve suerte de encontrar esta chaqueta de lino de color increíble. Me queda estrecha, pero me la quedaré (un rato) porque me va genial con mi ropa de verano y se puede llevar desabrochada. Finalmente la donaré de nuevo, porque no conservo mucho rato la ropa que no me vale. ¡Tengo prioridades!
