Trousers Season

As it was forecasted, the temperature plummeted last Monday, from 42ºC the previous day to 'only' 25ºC, and remained almost the same for the whole week. A shock to the system!. But it feels really revitalising and I'm back into normal activities, including having an operative brain working (my brain melts when it's over 37ºC; well, probably somebody could say it's quite melted whatever the weather). Back to business as usual, back to walks running errands and back to social life! .

Tal como decía la predicción del tiempo, las temperaturas bajaron bruscamente el lunes pasado, desde unos 42ºC del día anterior a 'sólo' 25, y siguieron más o menos así durante toda la semana. Un verdadero choque térmico, pero te hace sentir que vuelves a la vida, y da gusto retomar las actividades más normales, incluyendo respirar o pensar con claridad (por encima de 37ºC no tengo el cerebro operativo, bueno, habrá quien diga que por debajo tampoco!;D)

I picked some trousers for a change last week, as they've been neglected during heatwaves because of being too warm (too much fabric around!) and also because dresses are easier to the pool. Obviously, as we can go for long walks again (weather permitting!), trousers can be a good choice, but I wear skirts or dresses in my usual urban walks too. Actually I don't own any sport gear (except my sneakers and boots) nor specific walking gear. Even when I was attending pilates classes I wore just comfy clothes from my wardrobe (pyjama-like trousers and oversized tshirts), no reason to buy anything. As a huge fan of comfort, I have plenty of suitable clothes to walk!

Para cambiar, la semana pasada decidí ponerme pantalones, porque los he tenido apartados en las olas de calor, me daban calor (demasiada tela) y además los vestidos son más cómodos para la piscina. Claro está que ahora ya se puede salir a caminar (si el tiempo lo permite), y los pantalones son una buena opción, pero también me pongo faldas o vestidos para salir a caminar. En realidad es que no tengo ropa de deporte (salvo zapatillas o botas) ni una ropa específica para caminar. Incluso cuando iba a pilates, llevaba simplemente ropa cómoda que ya tenía, pantalones tipo pijama y camisetas grandes, no le veía sentido a comprar nada nuevo. Como siempre he sido muy fan de la comodidad, no me falta ropa para caminar en el armario, tengo opciones de sobra!.

I've read that elastic waistband trousers are a sign of embracing middle age, even a sing of having surrendered to it. But I've worn them since forever!. Comfy trousers can be really comfy&cool, particularly if they're colourful or interestingly shaped. Those trousers came from Vinted (again!) and have a fab flowy texture. Top by LaRedoute (years ago). Second hand shirt from Sunday street market. Earrings and brooch were retail shopped.
He leído por ahí que los pantalones de cinturilla elástica son una señal de haberse rendido a la mediana edad, y tampoco me parece así. Personalmente he llevado pantalones de cintura de goma desde siempre y me parecen cómodos y estilosos, sobre todo si son coloridos o tienen diseños interesantes. Estos pantalones también son de Vinted, de una tela de bambula ligera con movimiento. Camiseta de LaRedoute, de hace años. Camisa de segunda mano del mercadillo. Pendientes y broche de tiendas locales.

Those trousers were my Repeat Offender of the week, as I wore them next day, morning and evening, with different t-shirts and jewellery. Really comfy, high flowyness factor!
Mismo pantalón, diferentes camisetas y bisutería, un reincidente total que me puse al día siguiente, mañana y tarde. Comodísimo y súpervaporoso.

Another pair of trousers from Vinted and also repeat offenders since I shopped them. Lots of wearing!. And I found that they match my last crochet cardi, totally the kind of ensemble I can't resist to wear again and again. Matchiness makes me happy!. I just added a pair of (matchy!) sneakers (Adidas outlet) and a straw bag!.
Otro par de pantalones de Vinted y totalmente reincidentes desde que los compré, me los he puesto un montón. Me he dado cuenta de que combinan con esta chaquetita de ganchillo que terminé hace poco, y este es el tipo de combinación que no puedo dejar de llevar, y que me hace feliz. También combinan las zapatillas (Adidas outlet). No tengo remedio!

Black&white is another favourite colour combo, and I recently acquired those trousers at PuntRoma sales. I was planning to wear a red top but changed my mind and picked a yellow one (CandA, ages old) which matched my straw bag (more happy matchiness!). Actually, any bold colour could work nicely, so lots of possibilites for future colour combos!. It was a windy day so I picked my Seasalt jacket, totally a sign of the change of season is coming!. That massive pendant was made by a local artisan.

El blanco y negro es otra combinación de colores que me gusta mucho, y estos pantalones los compré hace poco en las rebajas de PuntRoma. Pensaba ponerme una camiseta roja, pero cambié de opinión y elegí una amarilla (del CandA, antigüita), que combinaba con el bolso de paja. En realidad pueden ir bien con cualquier color vivo, así que hay muchas posibilidades para futuras combinaciones. Como hacía viento, me puse esta chaqueta de Seasalt, que es como una señal de que se avecina el cambio de estación. El colgante lo compré a una artesana local.

Some seaside vibes in my last outfit, in the form of turquoise (with a pinch of red) and a sea-themed blouse (with a print of lighthouses and ships) which was acquired from a local retailer. Trousers came from a clearance sale. Sneakers by Adidas (outlet). Crochet cardi by myself. Necklace was made of discarded pieces and broken jewellery.
Para acabar la semana, aires marinos!, mucho color turquesa (con un toque de rojo) y una blusa con un estampado muy marinero, faros, barcos y gaviotas, que compré en una tienda local. El pantalón es de un outlet. Zapatillas de Adidas outlet. Chaquetita de ganchillo. Y el collar está hecho con piezas sueltas y collares rotos.

Heatwave Capsule (again and again)

After ten days over 38ºC (and last days over 40ºC), both my wardrobe and myself feel totally exhausted. We've been living in groundhog days, staying at home every evening, closed blinds and fans running at full speed. Total lockdown, because any outdoor activity makes you feel miserable, and can be dangerous for health. As you can imagine, my mood has worsened through the days and now I'm just hoping that temperatures go down soon!.

Después de diez días por encima de 38ºC y los últimos días de 40ºC o más, ya se agota hasta el armario más preparado, sin contar con el agotamiento físico y mental. Los días son como el día de la marmota, toda la tarde en casa con las persianas cerradas y ventiladores a toda potencia. Confinamiento total, porque ni se te ocurre salir a hacer nada fuera, si no quieres que te dé un jamacuco (en serio que no es bueno para la salud). Como es normal, el estado de ánimo va empeorando según pasan los días y ya sólo estoy esperando que baje la temperatura y respirar un poco.

One of my favourite outfits for extreme heat. Oversized linen tunic and lightweight palazzo trousers made of viscose, and both are pieces that barely touch my skin, breathable and breezy. That tunic was acquired second hand and then dyed in a rusty orange colour. Trousers came from PuntRoma, years ago. Those 'bronze leaves' earrings were retail shopped, and necklace was charity shopped. I also wore my 'extension chain' which I frequently use to adapt the length of necklaces, totally recommend to have one of these (I made mine of discarded pieces of jewellery).

Este es uno de mis conjuntos favoritos cuando hace calor de verdad. Una túnica de lino amplia y un pantaloncillo ligero de viscosa, ambos son transpirables, vaporosos y apenas tocan la piel. La túnica es de segunda mano y la teñí de este tono naranja óxido. Pantalón de PuntRoma de hace años. Los pendientes de bronce en forma de hojas son de una tienda local, y el collar de un mercadillo solidario. También llevaba mi cadenita para alargar collares, que es una cosita de nada pero muy práctica, yo hice la mía reutilizando piezas.

As you've noticed for sure, I haven't taken outfit photos last week (feeling too miserable to do it). Also too exhausted to use my computer in the evenings. So I've been staying in our (air conditioned) living room, reading and sewing and watching cozy crime series (don't judge me). I can recommend you Magpie Murders and Moonflower Murders, in an ironic Agatha Christie's style, and other lighthearted series like Harry Wild.

Como ya estaréis notando, no me he sacado fotos la semana pasada, no estaba de humor. Tampoco para acercarme al ordenador por la tarde. Así que me he quedado en el sofá (cerca del aire acondicionado) leyendo, cosiendo y viendo series entretenidas de crímenes. Puedo recomendaros Magpie Murders y Moonflower Murders, muy del rollo Agatha Christie pero con ironía, y algunas otras historias ligeras como Harry Wild.

I payed a visit to our local Sunday street market, even if it was damn hot at 35ºC in the early morning. The temperature has dropped 10ºC today and it feels like breathing again, a joy for our bodies and souls, and obviously I'll be out for a walk immediately. Have a fabulous week!.

SummerTime

As we don't take our holidays in the summertime, this season means for me staying at home and carrying on with my usual quiet lifestyle (and work). Only that I go to the nearby lido-swimming pool almost every evening after work. Not a bad plan!.

Como no somos de los que se van de vacaciones en verano, esta estación para mí significa quedarse en casa y seguir con mi habitual estilo de vida tranquilo (y seguir trabajando, claro). Sólo que voy a las piscinas, que me quedan a la vuelta de la esquina, casi cada día después del trabajo. No me parece un mal plan!.

Last week we have some unseasonably chilly temperatures, 'only' 25ºC, even lower some days, so I changed my usual swimming time for a walk to run errands. I was looking forward to wearing those new-to-me trousers. Actually, I shopped them some weeks ago before deciding to stop visiting those addictive second hand webs. That blouse came from Sunday street market, and I removed some elastic bands from its sleeves to let them loose and breezy. Those beads came from a charity market and look like something home-made of leftovers (which I approve). Earrings were retail shopped (years ago). That pendant was a present (decades ago) from former coworkers. Sandals by Wonders (old).
La semana pasada tuvimos temperaturas desacostumbradamente fresquitas, 'sólo' 25ºC o incluso más bajas algún día, así que cambié mi habitual visita a la piscina por un paseo y unos recados. Estaba deseando ponerme estos pantalones de segunda mano. En realidad los compré hace unas semanas, antes de tomar mi decisión de dejar de visitar las páginas de segunda mano, tan adictivas. La blusa es del mercadillo del domingo, y le quité unos elásticos que tenía en las mangas para dejarlas sueltas (y mucho más cómodas y frescas). El collar de bolitas es de una tienda solidaria y parece algo hecho en casa con restos (lo que me parece bien). Pendientes de una tienda local, hace años. El colgante fue un regalo (hace décadas) de mis antiguos compañeros de trabajo. Sandalias Wonders, de hace años.

It was windy (and chilly in the mornings) so I made the most of my crochet cardis collection and wore that massive and colourful one (pattern by Katie Jones). That dress was another one from Vinted. That necklace was made by me using old pieces from my box of broken jewellery and single earrings. Sandals by Chiruca (old).

Hacía viento y fresquete por la mañana así que saqué algunas chaquetitas de ganchillo (de mi extensa colección!) y me puse esta chaqueta larga tan colorida (patrón de Katie Jones). El vestido también es de Vinted. El collar lo hice usando restos de bisutería que tenía en una cajita. Sandalias de Chiruca, antigüitas.

Back to 'normal' summer temperature and back to the swimming pool, so I wore a dress, ready to go from office to pool (once I took off my bijouterie). That's another dress from Vinted (yes, I've shopped a lot of them, no regrets as I'm wearing them frequently).
De vuelta a una temperatura de verano más 'normal' y de vuelta a la piscina, así que me puse un vestido, lista para ir de la oficina a la piscina (una vez que me quito la bisutería). Y este vestido es también de Vinted (me he comprado un montón de ellos, pero no me arrepiento porque me los estoy poniendo muchísimo).

More crochet pieces, that's a top I crocheted last year. Not completely happy with it as it's too warm for spanish summer and probably not warm enough for Autumn: too specific and narrow window of opportunity. I don't know if it deserves a place in my wardrobe, even if I still like it.
Más ganchillo, esta vez un top que hice el año pasado. No estoy contenta del todo, porque da demasiado calor para el verano y luego resulta demasiado escotado para el otoño: sólo lo puedes llevar en unos pocos días muy concretos. Así que no sé si vale la pena, aunque me guste.
